Approved, but still waiting...

When I had my first consulte(09/10)with the nurse I was thinking about doing lapband. But the as the months pasted I realized more and more how much I had to lose and decided RNY was the better way to go. My NUT and discussed this through the months and also talked to the therapist there a few times about it.
Last week I got a copy of the Ins. papers that were sent in. Well, they sent in to approve lapband with my Ins. Ugh! I called them asap, let them know their mistake. The office manager called me later that day to appologize. She wanted to know who I had told I wanted RNY , I let her know. I did tell her it was half my fault and I should have called the nurse I orginally saw and let her know.
So, I got my lapband approval today. Sigh.  Now I have to wait for the ins. company to get the revised surgery that was sent in on the 4/27, and have it approved.
I was really hoping to have all this done by last month. I have a 2 week vacation the first 2 weeks of June and will now have to wait till the end of June, early July.
I have waited this long, I suppose I can wait some more.

Hey Erica,

Sometimes it just takes as long as it is going to take.  I know, not what you want to hear, but the wheels move slowly.  My bugaboo was I was approved, but had issues with my first program, left for a new program, so they didn't really know how to deal with me.  I came in with everything done, so they sort of lost track of me.  It took my whining to a nurse who saw me EVERY week coming to get weighed, to get the wheels greased.  Within three weeks I got my date.

I was shocked, as I was ready to tell the surgeon I might have to put the surgery off for five months - only to have him tell me, "How does next week sound?"  Bam!

Stay positive and in contact with the surgeons office, your time may come sooner than you think!
