I'm here!

Just thought I would pop in and give a formal "Hello!". I have been bouncing all over the forums for a little while now and I think I will land here and the RNY forums. There is SO much information to be had here and I'm slowly soaking it all in.
I'm starting this journy @ my all time highest weight 398. I was in denial for years about my depression and I have finally started to get it under control. I went through all the appointments and nut. appointments. Let me just say, I'm glad my ins. wanted 6 months of the NUT. There was no way I was totally ready 8 months ago when I started.
But, now I;m playing the ins. waiting game. It has been a week since the papers were filed. I have been spending my time walking, eatting way better then I thought I ever would. I have kept Amazon busy(and my bank account) with postop supplies.
I have lost aroiund 13 lbs and just that much has given me SO much energy! I'm actually sad when the weather is crap and there is little to no walking for the day. I still have yet to make myself go to a mall and walk. I mean come on I do live in MN and the Mall of America is not that far away. I even think they have a supported mall walkers group, with awards and stuff. I can just picture little old ladies leaving me in the dust. Ha.
See ya around,
Erica

Welcome to this forum.  I too was in denial about my true weight starting the process.  Good luck with the insurance process (we all know how frustrating that can be).  Just a word of caution, don't buy a lot of post-op supplies, you will find what works for you once you have surgery.

Good luck and we will save room for you on the loser's bench.

Thanks!
Just a few post-op/pre-op stuff. Food scale, samples of protien drinks, torani s/f syrups, and a magic bullet. Nothing too crazy as of yet.

Welcome Erica.  Don't overload on protien drinks because you don't know what you will be able to tolerate after surgery.   Keep us posted on your surgery date and a new beginning to your life.  I wish I had had the Six month pre-op requirement.  But RNY is still the best gift I could have given myself for sure.
