Slowly closing in on under 50 BMI...

I just squeaked into 55 BMI - barely!!!  But, in my book, just squeaking by does count.

When I started this journey a year ago, I was at 74 BMI, and I am happy to see the numbers going in the right direction.  My swimming is really going well, I am close to trying on additional (old) swimsuits, to see if I can retire the two I have been doing laps in.  "They" say it is fade resistant, but I wonder if they tested the fabric on someone swimming as much as I do?!!

For all over 50 BMI-ers out there, just know that it will take a long time, but you (and I) will get there.  The weight did not appear overnight, so it takes at least that long to make it disappear!  I am 5 months out from surgery, and my total weight loss in the WHOLE year is now 117 pounds.  It is slow and gradual, but as I said, it is going in the right direction!

Perspective is very important, keep records of weight, measurements, and the dreaded photos!  When I start to get down on myself for what I consider "slow weight loss," I return to my before section -- then I feel pretty damn proud of the accomplishment!

Stay Positive!

Thanks Jennifer -

And here's to continuing to make you smile!!!  I am toying with posting an "activity" that helped burn some extra calories today... Do I, or don't I? That is the question!

Congratulations on the lower BMI.   I am hoping to finally see the high 30s within the next week (I am at 40.3 right now).   Your attitude is great and I have no doubt that you will reach your goal.

Keep up the fight Brenda, you got it so right! The gains didn't happen overnight, and neither will the losses, but you will get there with determination and all that swimming! That's how I started too!!

Bonne Chance,

Great advice Brenda.  I'm setting at 50.8 right now.  Hopefully after my weigh in on Monday I'll be under 50.
