VSG BMI 66!!!!!!????
I recommend you do your homework and you may want to get a 2nd and 3rd opionion on this matter also. No one can make this decision for you but you. No dr, no love ones, etc. All the WLS have their good points and bad points but they are all good tools if you work in harmony with the new lifestyle the surgery will afford you.
Just remember always that after the surgery is over you will have to do your part to be successful for sure. I personally do not know a lot about VSG because it is one of the newer WLS options being offered to morbid obesity. I also recommend with your BMI being so high you get a surgeon who has been certified as a center of excellence by WLS organization.

I have gotten second opinions from doctors and they advice if i dont go with vsg to do rny but i dont feel confterable with rny any more the more i learn about vsg the better i feel with it and feel that my choice is the right one. april 10th im having consultation with my doctor since surgery will be on the 13th. ive seen people get amazung results with vsg and high bmi's.
my BMI was 67 when I started this process seven months ago. It's now 49.
I agree with doing the most research you can on all the surgeries..but that being said, I think just restrictive can and does work for higher bmi's just as well as the malabsorption surgeries do. When you can't eat much, you lose weight. I also lost tastes for things that I never thought I could live without before surgery. my fav foods were pasta, pizza, and potatoes before, today, I could care less about them, and chose to not eat them to maximize my weight loss.
It's all about healthy food choices no matter which surgery you have. The sleeve allows me the tool needed to make those choices and not feel deprived or hungry like I did on countless diets.
good luck in whatever you decide!

I had the VSG and prior to my surgery I had gone from wanting the bypass to the DS then to the VSG. I started with a BMI of 67. I agree with getting 2nd or 3rd oppinions , however, I also know that there have been many people that have had the VSG and have lost a great deal of weight. Check out the VSG forum also and you will see that YES....with a BMI of 66 you too can be successful. The key to all WLS is sticking to the plan and putting in the effort. As mentioned in earlier posts.....you have to decide what lifestyle you can live with for the rest of your life. I have Dr. Roslin for a surgeon and with my BMI he felt that having the VSG would be the safest way to go. He has left oppen having the 2nd part (DS ) in the future. I don't want the DS or another surgery period but I do know it is an option. I decided to go with the VSG and with that decision came the dedication to being successful. I have read many inspirationional posts from various surgery forums but know that this lifestyle is the lifestyle that I can live with. Good luck on your decison ....only you can make the right one for you!!
