Dorsal Column Stimulator test unit in place.. pain relief?
I had the surgery Monday to have the Stimulator test unit placed in my spine.. I had to recover yesterday from the surgery but today all the surgery pain is gone.. I am doing pretty good on the test unit.. a lot of the pain is taken care of.. I return tomorrow to have it tweaked to see if we can reach a better level.. then Friday the metal lead wires will be removed from the spine and if this is working good on the pain we will set up a date for a permanent implant..
I have shocked myself so many times with the unit being up too high and then at times it is too low and I don't feel anything.. This is truly a test of genius too.. and I am not one.. I hope to get the numbers set correctly by Friday.. maybe they can do better Wednesday so I don't almost fall over when I stand up and it hits too strong.. lol.... this is the strangest feeling.. it is tingly all down both legs and feels like when you have sat on your foot too long and it is asleep.. but if that stops this pain I will be a happy camper..
I will let you all know how it goes by Friday and if we decide to do this permanently.. The plastic surgeon said it will not interfere with tummy tuck as long as they implant the battery pack in the back and not the abdomen so that was a relief to find out..
more to come after Fridays visit..
Love you all.. sorry I am not on here to post too much.. so much going on with the pain and Dr appts and such..
huggs.

I hope they find a way to give you some relief from all that pain! You have lost so much and worked so hard to get where you are, and you deserve to be HAPPY darn it! And who could be truly happy in constant pain? I would go nuts. I hope the hospital and staff are treating you well and with the dignity and respect you deserve. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Thank you so much for the wonderful uplifting comments.. It is so great to have such wonderful friends for support on here like you.. I got the test stimulator taken out today.. man did that feel weird having them pull wires out of the spinal canal while awake.. good news though.. the test was a success.. the pain was managed about 75% better.. so I can stand the 25% pain it didn't do.. oh what a difference.. I have an appointment to meet with the spinal surgeon on the 23rd to get a date set to have the back surgery to implant the permanent device.. I can hardly wait.. after they removed the leads today it only took about 20 minutes for the pain to return full force...
I wish I knew something for anyone to do for the pain to be gone..I appreciate the sentiment.. I have often said if putting my head thru a brick wall would make it stop I would do it.. unfortunately that would not work too well..lol..... I thank God for this Dorsal Column Stimulator...I am hoping it will help with future issues as well.. I have degenerative disc disease on top of the grade 3 Spondylolisthesis.. so the condition of my spine will continue to worsen.. But for now at least this will let me get back to a somewhat normal life and be able to move again.. It is such a scary and horrible feeling to be able to walk one minute and then stand up and not be able to walk.. it has happened 3 times now.. the first was the worst when the spinal hardware collapsed.. but now it is an issue of pain.. anyway.. I am going on and on.. sorry long winded today.. lol... but I am excited that this is going to work..
I'll try to keep posted the progress as it goes..
Thanks again.
