Yes, it was said that it would happen some day...well that some day is today! The scale says "198"...and I'm flying highhh! Started out at 391 on 3/31/09, so that's 193 lbs. lost, yay! I'm 5'8" and carry this well, but I'm still striving for lower as the plastic surgeon recommended going as low as I can go before that procedure. Loving Size XL, some L, 14/16!

New Years resolution: finding my "core" and working it!

WOW, Linda!!!

That is so great.  I'm thrilled for you and feeling more hopeful.   I have been on a plateau for months now, but am working my tool better again, so I may get close to my goal one day!

Many congratulations and have fun shopping in regular stores all the time!  WOW -

Thanks, Mary! It is a memorable milestone, no doubt. I was thinking that 202 was where my body wanted to settle at, but I'm glad I was wrong!

You are doing wonderfully! Isn't it the best, having lost the bulk of the excess and enjoying ease of movement and not being sweaty and out-of-breath all the time?! I'm still in awe of our accomplishments.

Since I don't have a "goal" weight and have hardly been called "normal" in any way, I'm just gonna keep on truckin and see where I end up. At least I'm enjoying the ride!

I'm still in total awe of a young woman who posted on the RNY site of her 210-lb. loss in just 14 months! Granted she looks to be in her 20's (I'm going to be 48 in May), but WOW! She is beautiful, and so successful! I guess our bodies lose at the rate they are determined to and we must appreciate their efficiency with our tool.

We discuss this often, and know we shouldn't compare ourselves to others, but damn, to have lost 193 lbs. and still be in the "obese" category can be disheartening. It does beat the hell of out "super morbidly obese," but still...I do wonder how much the excess skin weighs; the plastic surgeon did not venture to estimate. I also wonder if I'll get the courage to undergo the extended abdom procedure that was approved by my insurance; the recovery of being skinned alive and having two surgeons spend five hours stitching me back up seems ultra painful and harsh.

Thanks for listening...have a nice weekend!~

Woo hoo! Welcome to Onderland!!!

Isn't it a great place to be?!? I'm glad to hear that you're still working your tool even as far out as you are. Shows that we all can keep losing the weight- but you're right, don't compare yourself to others cuz you look FANTASTIC!

And I was thinking about going to a PS so they could tell me how much I should weigh cuz my doc won't give me goal weight and I just picked one randomly. I was thinking that a PS could tell me what's a reasonable amount to lose and how much is just skin. I don't want to be struggling to lose x amount of lbs if all that is, is skin and bones ya know....what do you think after talking to one?

Thanks for the kind words! Regarding my PS consult, the doc would not recommend a goal weight and also would not venture how many pounds of skin were hanging...so very helpful, huh?! Instead, his advice was to get as low as I could, weight-wise, and do major strength-training to get as fit as possible before the surgery. He explained that I would be under about 6-8 hours, most of that time spent by two surgeons stitching me up. Also advised that infections and skin issues are more common on weight loss patients. Because I carried (and still do, but a bit deflatedly) my weight mainly in lower abdomen and also bulging over my mons area, LOTS of skin. I'm going to go for a second opinion this year. My main concern is the needed reconstruction of my mons area, and the doc told me outright that that area would never be flat, that he would not cut too low, too close to nerves, didn't want me to lose sensation, but that I would experience "a better quality of life."

At your current weight and fitness level, it seems time for a consult. Afterall, with the extra skin gone, you might very well be at your goal! Let us know; I'll do the same!

Thanks for all the info, I'm going to schedule a consult this week...it would sure help my fitness level if I could release all of this excess skin weighing me down!

I AM SOOOO WITH YOU HUNN ..... My body has stopped loosing weight and it is driving me nuts I go from 200 to 204 pending cloths and weather I have gone to the bathroom. OMG I have been trying forever to loose and get under 200 I am ONE da@ pound away and my body just will not let me get there. It has been since last July of this. I started at 463 pounds I have lost 262 pounds... yes I understand the skin issues and all. I saw a plastic surgeon yesterday; He explained everything he is going to do. I will have the surgery in a little over a month if all goes well. Then I guarantee I will be under 200.lol   But the skin issue is the biggest problem for me that and the chaffing. Not including my spinal and dizziness. Having it off will help me medically in many ways. I al SOOO with you my sister in LooserVill. One day at a time is what I live and learned to the hard way. HUGGZZZZZZZZZ Kathy
