Sagging Irritated Skin

I about to ask a very personal question.  A VERY personal question.

I started out my weight loss journey at 375, I am now 268 after having the Verticle Sleeve Gastrectomy.

My belly, my inner and outer thighs droop like you wouldnt believe.  Its not just skin as I know I still have more weight to loose.

My obgyn last year diagnosed me with having Lichen Sclerosis.  Thinning of the skin ...down there.  Worst case scenario is a feeling like I have a 5 alarm yeast infection going on.  ITS BAD.  My obgyn also told me that this skin condition is NOT weight related.  I am sorry but I cant help but think it is.

Is anyone else struggling with this.  Today I started a new exercise regime and the itching is already starting.  The horrifying feeling I get when it flairs up makes me never want to have sex, exercise, ride a bike, go to the bathroom - pretty much alot of important things in my life.

I am desparate... I need some relief from this torture.  Please someone tell me I am not alone.

I am so sorry for your pain.  Have you tried wearing baby powder down there?  I hope the doctors can help you.  Just hang in there and no matter what losing weight is healthy for you.

I heard a rumor that if you have constant infections you can get your insurance to pay for plastic surgery. Have you checked that out?

Start documenting this issues, rashes, pain, itching. Some health care insurers pay for some surgery that is not purely cosmetic.

The condition may not be caused by obesity, but may be exacerbated by humidity caused by excess skin and hormonal fluxuations associated with rapid weight loss (especially in sebaceous glands and hair folicles). Did she prescribe you a corticosteroid? If not you might want to ask for one.

In the interim, for external application, Penatin cream may help keep your itching under control... especially if dusted afterwards with a cornstarch babypowder (don't use talc based powders in that region!).

Hope this situation improves for you...
