just when I felt so good...

the christmas photos got posted and now I feel like crap again.
I know I've lost almost 100lbs in 4 months, but I still am the fattest in the room, and the biggest in my family photos.  I had my pics taken with both my sisters, who are both tiny.  I hate that I still look huge and like I have not lost any weight.  they make me feel just like I felt 100lbs ago.  I feel like crap and it makes me want to eat.  Inside, I felt tiny, small after losing this much weight.  I bought new clothes for the xmas family party.  I felt like a million bucks.  Until the photos were published and now, back down to the bottom of my confidence.
why is it that I let the skinny people dictate how I feel ?  how do I overcome this feeling so that I can continue in my weight loss battle?  sometimes I feel it is a losing cause since I have so far to go and I will always be "the big girl" in the room.  I hate that I let them make me feel this way.
they never said anything, but I feel it.
Is this normal? can anyone relate? will I ever stop feeling so down about losing weight when the skinnies come around?  what do you think?

Focusing on the negative things never does anyone good!   Step back, stop looking at the pictures and start thanking God every day for your surgery, your changing and healthier body, and the way you can do things you were unable to do in the past.  You are just fine and getting even better.

If someone told you the surgery was a miracle cure, they were lying.  It is A TOOL to help you, but you are the one to continue to change as the tool starts to allow you to eat more.  You are fine.  You looked fine.  You are better and continuing to get better.  Your life will improve and you have things that your tiny sister wish they had.

Bless you.

You have a lot of stinking thinking to overcome.  Your attitude is not helpful.  Skinny people are not going away.  If you know you have lost 100 pounds, focus on that and how much heal tier you are today.

Yes you may always be a big lady.  So.  A big lady at a size 14 to 16 is better than a big lady at size 18 and up.

Positive thinking will serve you well.  Start working on positive thinking and positive self talk.  If you continue with the negative self talk, and image you have a chance of self sabotaging yourself.  Vent anytime to us.  We are here to help you.

Love yourself!!  Self LOVE is key and count your many blessings and the opportunity WLS has given you is a big blessing that you don't want to waste with all these negative feelings.

As the previous poster mention this is a life time commitment to a healthier you and is not the easy way out.  WLS is a tool only, so definitely take advantage of your honeymoon period and lose as much weight as you can now.  Do not be like me and self-sabotage yourself.

I definitely understand - i think it's an extra challenge some of us have when we have a lot more to lose. But, seriously, when you think about how much 100lbs is - that's a small person! If you tried to pick up 100lbs, it might hurt

It's a rare person who truly loves to see pictures of themselves -regardless of size, so just realize its a normal feeling, and deal with it. If you need a reminder of just how far you've come - climb some stairs or do some jumping jacks, and you will certainly appreciate those 100lbs gone

Great job so far, you are doing amazing!

Just think, you're probably the only one this year that grabbed hold of their life and health and faced a very scarey surgery and life change. You've made amazing changes. Keep rocking that sleeve!!!

I know how you feel, as I have had my own "jeez, I still don't look great."  I lost 240 lbs. but that didn't make me look like a model.  I've had a tummy tuck, arm reduction, and breast reduction and lift, and I still don't look like a model.  Truth is, I'm a middle aged woman who once weighed 400 lbs. and have the body--and face--that went through it.  I don't have the perfect body shape (saggy butt and heavy legs due to unrelated medical issues) and will always be "hippy."  I have to remind myself that to look at others with an honest eye and see their "flaws" as well.  The pictures in magazines are not of regular women, so we can't use those as a point of comparison.

And some of us are simply not photogenic--especially in home photos.

It can be a discouragement to see evidence that are external look doesn't match our internal, but the internal is truly who we are.

Good luck dealing with the ups and downs of your great past and future successes.
