Atkins or Low-Carb Curious?

We will be discussing low-carb / high-protein / Paleolithic / high-fat / Atkins eating programs!
Several OH members have posted questions or comments about the Atkins program, and also about high-protein, or low carb, or high-fat dieting. Some people are interested in trying it to lose weight, or to refine their weight-loss, or just get carb cravings or blood-sugar under control.
This new group will provide information and support for those who would like to try this way of eating.
Even though I had WLS three years ago, and am thoroughly pleased with my Roux-en-Y, it has become necessary to get my sugary-foods cravings under control. I still dump like a Mack truck, but have found other carbs slipping unhealthfully into my eating, and dearly wish to lose a little more weight.
So -- I'm "doing" Atkins again (it was effective for me in the past). If you are also researching this way of eating, come give the new group a shot!

Aktin,s is O.k. for a short term. But, The long term efforts. It can cause heart problems. Servial of the nurses I worked went the Atkin,s diet. Most of us lost weight the first two to three weeks. But, most of us could not stay on it. My friend who did stay on it lost two hundred pounds in about two years. But the side effects all of her teeth fall out of her mouth. After Being on for about two years and losing 200 pounds. Her denist said the high Acid in the diet. Being in ketosis so long cause her teeth to get soft and fall out. Living on high diet can,t be good for you either. Eat Pork rinds and meat and fats. Sausages for every meal. The thought of Pork rinds make me sick.
Staying in a state of Ketosis gets harder and harder. Your body gains the weight back even faster. If or When deside you eat carbs again. you pack on twice as many pounds.
But, Even after that is all said and done.
What crazy is that Aktins is one the only diet I really ever lost weight on and stay for a long time.
So ever though you know it in you heart that it is bad for you. I still want to try it again.
I hoping not to repeat the same mistakes twice.
Change is hard.
High protein, low carb and stay off the fats is the way to go.
