Cinderella Went to the Ball 100 lbs Lighter on her 4 Month Surgiversary - Photos (X-Post)
Last night was the annual Scottish Ball - a big event in the social life of expats in Dar es Salaam.. It also happened to be my four month surgiversary and the day I hit 100 lbs lost (100.2 to be exact). My 6 year-old son told me I looked like Cinderella going to the Ball.
Perhaps it was the huge up-do they did at the beauty salon, or the size 24/26 dress (a size I haven't worn in 15 years) that was already a bit too big, but I did feel like a princess. Or Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys (because of the hair).
I am/was a heavy weight - so 100 lbs lost is still just the tip of the iceburg. But I feel great. Last night I danced for hours. And I only went home reluctantly at 1:30 AM when the rest of my party was zooked. I could have danced all night. What a huge difference from a year ago, when I could barely muster the energy to get out of my seat to go track to the bathrooms!
I have no special tricks that haven't been mentioned on this board a million times. I'm eating a low carb diet. And I have suffered several stalls - the most recent being the most trying of all. For about 12 days I was stuck at 97-98 lbs lost and the scale wouldn't budge no matter what I tried (more/less exercise, more/less calories, more/less carbs). I even went back to a liquid diet of protein drinks for 3 days - but no movement on that damn scale! Seems it started moving again when my body was ready. Go figure. Living overseas, however, I do have it a bit easier than many in that I have a cook and so i don't have to spend time in the kitchen preparing my family's meals (and therefore no grazing), and because I have inexpensive childcare available I can pretty much go to the gym anytime.I want (usually at 7:30 PM after the kids are in bed).
And once again I have to thank everyone on this board for their support. I would never have suffered through that latest stall without the knowledge that you have brought to me about stalls over the past few months.
Here are some photos.
