I also noticed the weekly weigh ins were missing... I have not been so urgent to post as I have not seen much change.. thanks for posting ..it keeps me accountable..

I have been gaining and loosing the same 5 lbs for the last couple months.. aarrrgggg...from 148 to 153 ...up and down .. up and down.....  I am right at the 1yr mark.. will be on the 23rd anyway.. not sure if I am leveling off or not.. or how much more to loose if I can.. I started with a BMI of 63.3 and weight of 303lbs  ... I have a LOT of extra skin and not really sure how much all that weighs.. being 4'10" I am still at a weight in the obese range but if I subtract weight for the skin I would not be.. anyone know how to figure out how much we should loose with all that skin on us.. ????

well anyway here goes for my accountability..

Starting weight          303lbs
surgery weight           236lbs
last week                    153lbs
this week                    148lbs

huggs......

Hi Teresa!!! So good to see you here. Since we are nearly twins  thought I would share what the PA at my surgeon's office told me. My start weight was 303 and I am 5 ft even.....She said 150 was a good solid goal for me as I would have 30 lbs of extra skin when I got there! If I subtract the skin weight it would put me right at normal weight and that is what we have to do.  I am so proud of you! You have done amazingly well this year!

Here's my report......303 to start, 269 surgery and 175 Monday. I just had to go to wal-mart over lunch to buy new jeans, the ones I am wearing are starting to sag....bought a 14!!!!!

Thanks for the info Cheryl.. I am so happy to hear that my theory was not off the wall.. I feel so good at this weight and I am really pleased with the results of my working this tool..

Congrats on the new jeans size.. I know that feels so good.. I remember when I tried on the first pair at Wal Mart to actually maybe buy a brand new pair instead of Goodwill. That was a little over a month ago.. and I was in a 14... I loved them but they were a mile too long so I took a pass.. I guess maybe I am glad now.. I have not seen much movement on the scale but in inches it is still going down.. I am now in a size 10 jeans and a small in stretch pants.. I am in a medium tops.. it does not seem real to me sometimes..

I had my one year check up yesterday and the doctor told me my labs are all doing good and that I have probably reached the weight where my body will even out now.. he looked at my belly and agreed that I have enough extra skin that I am actually in the normal body weight range.. He said I might loose a little more or I might stay here.. I told him that I was happy either way.

I started my program with the original surgeon in November 2008... the dieting then started.. I started a drastic liver shrinkage diet in February of 09,  and had the surgery November of 2009.. so he told me that I should actually look at it as being 2 years out with the weight loss... not just how far out I am from surgery...That made it all seem to make sense to me better.. This is the first time this doctor has told me that information..

I can't wait to get the stomach skin removed.. I have to wait until I am 18 months from surgery and weight has stabilized for 6 months.. looks like that might be next Spring.. (if I can come up with the $5000 deductible by then).. that should put me into a smaller pants size because now I have to stuff the extra skin in there..lol...

I feel so much more relaxed now knowing all this and not having to worry why I am not loosing anymore weight.. I am glad that someone helped you in setting a realistic goal.. and you are not too far away now.. keep up the good work.. it will be there before you know it..

Thanks for the info.. I appreciate it.. like getting a second opinion on what my doctor said yesterday.. lol..

huggs..

That was a 10 pound loss in one week, but I'm on my pre-op liquid diet so that's why. My goal is to have lost 75 pounds before my surgery. Looks like I might make it!
Loving my new life!  I'm ever so grateful...
