Ladies and gents, I did it!!!  I finished the Couch to 5k running program and had my first 5k race yesterday!  I wrote about it on the Exercise forum...

Never would I have thought I'd be capable of doing something like this.  When I was pre-op I never thought about possibly running.  I set four goals for myself this year:  kayak, bike ride, ride a horse, and roller skate.  I'm thrilled I did all of them AND I get to add this to the list.

Is that really me?  Is this really my life?  It's all so surreal sometimes.

Thanks, girl!  It's been awesome being on this journey with you and hearing about all of your milestones as well.  I rely on my in-person and online friendships with fellow WLS'ers so much - it's important to know you're not alone in this crazy journey.

Did I tear up?  OMG.  I was a WRECK.... the day before!  I recorded a video... check it out.

And this is the post AFTER the race - beaming ear to ear (video is at the bottom).
I've decided I want to pursue doing a 10k in early March.  Here we goooooooooo!

Michelle,

I am so very proud of you.. look how far you have come.. I am so glad that I got to follow your journey.. .. you helped me so much along the way and are such an inspiration for me..
I am still struggling with walking after my back collapse but I am doing all I can.. I am hoping for a pain implant in the next month or so that will allow me to do more..

I know how excited you had to be to complete this.. I remember the day I walked a 5k.. I could not believe it.. I want to be able to get back there again.. I will never be able to run with my back but I will settle for walking if I can just get back there.. but running is what you should be very proud of.. none of us ever thought running would ever be in our vocabulary..

I look at you and how great you look and how great you are doing in the exercises and it makes me want to work harder.. and I will as soon as I can..

I want to thank you for being such an inspiration to me and for following the journey along with you.. you keep it up... your goals are being met and it is making others set goals too.. including me..

Congrats on a great NSV moment.. ain't they great....

huggs...
