Folks, I gotta tell ya - I ran 3 miles non-stop last night.  I know no one understands the how meaningful it is to be able to do this like this board.  A year ago I got tired slowly walking around the grocery store.

Hitting that milestone last night, well, I teared up.  Thank god I took control of my health - in doing so I'm discovering ME.  I am so blessed.

What milestones or WOW's have you experienced lately!  Share!  Let's focus on the good :)

Non stop....non stop...wow Michelle- that is flippin' amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so proud and impressed! As someone who can't run for more than 5min at a time- I soooo understand how huge that is!

You must feel wonderful! Congrats gurl- that is a huge milestone!

So, when's you first 5k? 10k?

My milestone is that I completed a metric century (100K) bike ride on Sat, and my next mini goal is to ride 100miles on Jan 9th...

Hooooooooo girlie, you are doing some serious spinning!  Love it!!!

My first 5k is a week from Sunday!  Woot!  I definitely want to sign up for a 10k in the spring and maybe even a half marathon next fall.  I never expected to like running so much!  It is NOT easy... but I love the simplicity and personal challenge.

Yeah! That's great news, you're so guna tear up when you cross that first finishline! I can see that you're going to be like all the rest of the running nuts on the Exercise and Fitness board...running your bootay off- literally!

I'm so happy for you!!!

You'll be doing a marathon soon...just keep at it!

that is so cool! Congrats!! Thank you for proving that it can be done!  I hated running when I was a kid, but as an adult I dream of someday doing it. I don't know if I will enjoy it, but it is one of the things I want to be able to do after surgery.  I dream of running a 5k!! Actual dreams, even.

Reading stuff like this on this board makes me so glad I have decided to finally have the surgery. Now I have to be patient (not my strong suit) for it. Can't submit to insurance until Jan 1st.

Way to go!!!

Great job!!! I know what you mean. Yesterday I walked a mile ans a half in a walk from obesity event a year ago I got tired just walking to my car and last December I had a Pulmonary Embolism which landed me in the hospital for 9 days. I am actually starting to enjoy exercise and hope to do a 3 mile walk in the spring. Who knows maybe I'll take up jogging someday down the road.

This past Summer I hiked/climbed (sometimes straight up) up a mountain this past summer, it was over 7 miles roundtrip.  Two years ago I couldn't walk to the end of my driveway!  And the best part? I loved every minute of it.

20 pounds lost during two week pre-op diet.

WOW WOW WOW Michelle!!!!!!

I just had to click and see what you were up to now. that is sooooo FANTASTIC!!!!

My latest achievement? i went home to NY to visit and I was up and down the subway stairs, train steps, all over manhattan, didn't need to stop...didn't get out of breath...omg! I was like a kid on Christmas morning!!!! It was soooo fabulous!!! I got to see my family and alot of friends. My grandmother and aunt said if they passed me on the street they would have passed me by...can you imagine? the people that have known me since i was born! It felt fantastic! I have never enjoyed being home so much. i attended my high school's 50th anniversary...walked up and down the steps like I did when i was in high school. if i hadn't been in public i think i might have broken down and cried.

So far that is 4 plane trips since surgery!

My grandmother asked what was the best part of the surgery and I said honestly, the pure freedom to do whatever I choose without having to worry about the walking distance, amount of stairs, the size of the chairs or anything else!

THANK YOU RNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
