How do you get your protein powder to dissolve

I am very new at this. I am pre-op and don't have a surgery date yet. On my first visit to the surgeon he put me on a protein shake diet to start losing before surgery.

I have powder stuff I stir into water or milk. It just floats around in clumps.
I can make it completely mix if I use a blender on it for a while, but I understand that post op I will not be allowed to use a blender because it adds so much air bubbles  to the protein shake. So I am trying to learn how do you get it to actually mix thoroughly and dissolve so it doesn't look like clumps of chalk floating around in water?

What protein shakes are you using? Mine says Bariatric Advantage.

No one has ever told me not to use a blender and I have used the bullet pre and post op.  I have never had a problem with air and even toss in ice and it does a great job.

I had to do 2-3 shakes a day before surgery as I had to lose 75 lbs. before surgery and I'm a straw user also, not sure of the actual rule on that as I've read and heard so many different rules, but it works for me.

At work I use one of the shaker cups like the previous poster mentioned.  At home I just use the kitchen sink sprayer to add just enough water to mix good and then I fill my cup the rest of the way with milk or cold water!

I concur, shakers (with a blender ball) are great- I use mine all the time, but loads of people use actual blenders too...you just may have to wait a little longer for the foam to settle, but works just fine.

Also, different proteins mix easier...I love the About Time brand because it mixes so smoothly- but everyone's different!

I will get a shaker then. That sounds like an easy way to bring my powder for lunch at work too. It isn't like I can tote my blender everywhere. Thanks everyone! I didn't know about the blending balls for shakers. This is all news to me. I appreciate the information! Thanks.

Whey isolate powders dissolve much better than concentrate or blend powders, in my experience.  I wrote a long post about protein here.  I don't use blenders and I've given up my shaker balls.  But my drinks aren't clumpy!  :)

I use a stick blender and its easy to take with you, easy to clean and mixes the protein well...in addition to shreading ice cubes too!
