Geez!  If you figure it out, please post!!!

For me, I have had three periods (menses) that have lasted 11 - 16 days since starting to lose weight (I am pre-op), which has been ridiculous in weight fluctuations.  One of the things I was told to try was heat lemon slices - with the skin - in warm water.  I love lemons, eat them like oranges, so for me, this is a treat.  I am unsure if it matters about the heat or the skins, but maybe that is missing from the equation in your case?

Good luck, and I hope it resolves itself!!!

Pre surgery I had bloating so bad in my feet that it was sometimes very painful to walk.  I usually have slim ankles and they would balloon up to the size of my mid calf!!!  It wasn't unusual for me to put on 15 lbs of water weight overnight and my pms to last 2 weeks.  I was miserable and NOTHING helped...until...I went on a low carb plan pre-surgery.  I have not been the least bit bloated since week 2 of the low carb.  I only lasted 5 days on optifast, it was too high carb for me to lose weight.  I lost 14lbs pre-op and have lost 20 post-op in exactly one month.  80% of my joint pain has vanished and I can walk tons without pain!!  It's a new life for me.  I don't know if this will work for you, but certainly worth a try!!

Pre-op I tried to stay under 1000 calories with 20-30 net carbs.  Post op, I'm at about 1200 calories and try to keep carbs under net 60.  When I was lower calorie and carb I stopped losing weight.  I have a feeling I will have to cycle between the two plans to keep my body guessing and to continue losing weight.

I wish you the best...I know how hard it is to deal with this problem.

Are you taking prescription meds for edema now??  I'm preop, have lost 40 lbs and suddenly my blood pressure went up, even with Maxide a blood pressure/diuretic.  So double check your BP.  Also I have found sugar makes me swell just like salt.  Even with walking for 2 days at Halloween events and only 4 mini candy bars I gain 5 pounds overnight.  Lots of water and very low carb I've lost it plus 3 this week.  My feet also swell when I don't use oxygen at night.  If you over dehydrate, your body may hang on to all the fluid it can.   Hope one of these ideas helps

Do you have sleep apnea? If so, are you using your machine? This can cause major edema if you are not using your machine or have it and it is untreated. It's definitly something to talk to your doctor about. I have absolutly no edema since surgery and I was just in the hospital in August for a week because of how bad mine had gotten. I lost 40lbs of fluid that week. I was on three different fluid prescriptions before surgery and none now.

It may also just be that you will have it until surgery.
