3 months, 84 lbs lost - xpost
Hi everyone,
Today is my 3 month surgiversary and as of this morning I am down 84.2 pounds (including 14 lbs in the 10 days pre-op). I went from a BMI of 70 to 56.
I am a so-called "heavy-weight" so 84 lbs is just the tip of the iceberg for me. But still, it is exciting to have had such amazing success so far in such a short period. Much of that is thanks to the people on this forum - which I read every day. Being overseas, having you out there has been completely invaluable for me - for learning tricks of the trade, and feeling emotionally connected to others going through the same thing as me. Thank you.
I attribute what I have accomplished so far to the fantastic tool we have, and also a lot of hard work. I've been working out every day, and I have chosen to significantly limit my carbs for the time being. I have chosen to tell the people in my life about my decision to have WLS and I am lucky to have received 100% support. I also (personally) believe that the only way to destigmatize WLS is to "come out of the closet" about it. And I am committed to educating people about what it is, why people (I) chose to have it, and how they can best be supportive of me in my journey. The biggest myth I like busting is WLS is somehow cheating. I let them know that even with WLS it takes hard work, massive willpower and a lot of commitment to be successful. This is certainly no free ride.
That said, I am lucky to have no reflux issues, and absolutely no hunger - except for the hunger in my head. I've had a few episodes of low blood sugar where my body has told me that I MUST eat. But really I could go all day without eating if I let myself (which I don't). And physcially I feel more like someone who weighs 150 lbs (or at least what I imagine it to be). I have tons of new energy.
For the life of me I can't figure out how to copy photos into this post, so I uploaded some to my album. You are welcome to go look. In the past few weeks I have had tons of positive comments from people who didn't know about my WLS - but I am having a hard time seeing it in the photos. But the proof is in the clothes, I guess. I started in a size 34 and today I am wearing size 26 pants (for the first time).
Once again... thanks for the community...

Hey Hally!!!
Congratulations! I feel the same, I have to remind myself 40 pounds is still an accomplishment, even when I answer the question, "How Much...?" When you are over 50 BMI (I started over 70, too!), it just seems like a drop in the bucket.
Be proud!!! You are supported, you will succeed! Be kind to yourself, and celebrate every pound!

Hally you go girl!! I am ssssoooo happy for you ! I am scheduled for my sleeve on 11/2 and will be off 10 weeks of LOA from work and want to go back with some significant weight loss. I am BMI >72 now so you give me hope the sleeve will be my tool to be successful in consistent and perm. weight loss. I too read the boards every day for support as at this time I cannot attend support meetings due to mobility issues. Can I ask why are you overseas? Were you born there or moved there. Sounds like an exotic place. Hugs Maja
