Posted this on the VSG board but wanted to shere with my Family here...
Good morning all.  I woke up  smiling yesterday.  I could not stop and I thought Why.  Then I thought after years and years and years of pulling this body around, huffing and puffing after walking a short distance and being told by MD's loose weight.  I have FINALLy have hope restored in myself and the future.  I was goven the gift of a surgery date Wednesday and even today I tear up writing this as HOPE is restored!!!  Did 96% success on full liquids yesterday with 96% effort.   Today 100 / 100 is going to be my plan / effort.  My pulmologist told me early on the process when he recommended WLS, and knoing my Insurance has an excllusion policy for WLS told me THIS WILL BE THE BEST MONCY SPENT ON YOURSELF.  Today with bank accounts empty, all savings tapped, gifts from family deposited and spent and the last money borrowed I still feel hopeful and not sad to have spent it all for me , my health and to be a long living member of my family and society.  May I pay it forward helping someone else regain hope. Love Maja

Congratulations on your surgery date!!!! I never could have imagined volunteering for surgery and actually been excited about it lol

It will be your best money spent....spent on your improved health instead of prescriptions, pain relievers and unhealthy food!

I wish you an uneventful surgery and speedy recovey

Congrats Maja!!!! I agree this is the BEST gift you can give to yourself!  I want to encourage you to use the TOOL well.  With healthy eating and exercise it will serve you very well.  Mines is serving me well 6 years later!  My anniversary is this month and your post help me reflect on that time before my surgery many years ago.

Much success to you and keep us posted!

Molly Hello,
Guess what happened yesterday at work??  I work is a large service center - and we all have pods, and can hear each other on the phone.  Well as you can guess I am getting many phone calls last week from Dr's , Hospital dept's etc ...for the set up info pre op.  Well at lunch friday one lady pretty new to our company  told me she heard me on the phone and asked if I was to  have gastric bypass and I said no, cuz I am not.  Well she told me she had RNT 7 years ago with Dr Caghill in Chi at Little Company of Mary Hospital.  Small world ain't it? She really likes him and the hosp and is doing pretty well.  She looks good to me.  I never ask #'s as I will not discuss them with anyone but here. There is a limit to my openess.  So VSG here I come.
Having trouble with keeping to liquids today = saturday.  Saturdays were always bad - non on schedule days for food and meds.  Looking in the mirror - saying to myself Hmmmm needs to learn to address Saturday's and problems with schedules.  Love ya all Maja .

Wow!  It is a small world isn't it!  Dr Cahill and staff is wonderful.  Well if you did not tell her you are having VSG she knew you were having something.   Because we know the lingo.  Too bad you are not trusting anyone at office.  She would probable be a good supporter for you. But you have to trust your gut.  I told my whole office and my team and others were very very supportive of me.  It made me more accountable also because I knew people would be watching and waiting for me to gain weight.

Congratulations!  Will have you in my prayers for your surgery.  It is very exciting!  Getting that call, I remember, was a little surreal.  Good luck with the liquids.  It can be tough, but it can be done!

50 lbs lost pre-op-the rest is post op.
