So, I walked into a store (an actual store) and bought a pair of jeans.  I didn't have to order online or buy jeans with an elastic waist!  Hello shopping!!!!

How wonderful for you.  I,m truly happy for you.  Some people take for granted shopping is fun.  It not fun if your big.

Had to buy a dress for my nephews wedding 36 W.  Nothing can possible look good when your that size.  It just sad when your in the biggest size that Cathines carries and you barely fit in it.

It should a happy occasion.  But, Instead I,m hating everything about it.

My other  Nephew got married in Boston.  It was a beautiful outside wedding by the ocean.  It was beautiful.  but, I could not enjoy it. Because,  They have tiny picket chair.  I was so scared the chair was going to break at any minute during the wedding.  So was doing everything I could to sit and trying to keep weight on my legs as much a possible.   All with a smile on my face.
Praise the Lord the chair did not break.

That was just the first of many wow moments to come where shopping is concerned.  Wait until you no longer fit in the clothes offered at plus size boutiques and then you have to move to the women's sizes at department stores and after that misses!  who knew!?!?  I felt so out of place in a store and still to this day am not too sure where I should be shopping when I am in a store that offers a range of sizes.  Guess that's why I stick to clearance racks at discount stores - all the sizes are combined!

CONGRATULATIONS on a successful step in this journey!!!!!

That's just the START, honey!   I go to consignment and second-hand clothes stores now and shop till I drop.  Where in the 5-6X sizes, I was so limited, I had several outfits I just wore over and over... now my closet is bulging and I can't decide what to wear each day!  AND, I'm still in 3x and 2x!  I can't imagine what options will be mine in 1x, XL and (heaven forbid) Large!   Woo hoo!   Love me some great clothes!   I'm in designer duds that are a fraction of  what i spent on the Catherines, Lane Bryant online, and Making It Big.  AND they fit.   A new world awaits... big changes when you go from 400 to 277 and counting.

YaY for you! A totally celebratory wow moment that we can all relate to! Shopping becomes fun, from dreaded...and it just keeps getting better & better! I'm with Mary...the consignment shops are a treasure to find really nice clothes cheap, which makes sense while we're still dropping sizes. However, even at 18 months post-op and 185 lbs. down, I don't like to pay full price at stores since discovering the bargains at the thrift shops, esp. down here in Palm Beach (lots of wealthy peeps do donate barely or never worn clothing cuz they're bored with em!).

Enjoy the jeans, and happy shopping!
