Counting down ...

Hi Everybody!

I'm new to this board so thought I'd introduce myself.  My surgery, RNY (lap) is scheduled for Monday, September 27th!  So excited to have finally made it to this point.  The only thing I'm a little apprehensive about is giving myself a daily anti-clotting injection for 30 days post-op.  I don't much like needles .. guess I'm just going to have to get over that for a bit .. lol

I'm starting this journey at a BMI of 61, which I believe is classified as "super morbidly obese".  Have no particular weight goal in mind at this time.  I just want to improve my health, hopefully get off some of the many meds I take and be able to actually live again.  No more sitting on the sidelines for me.

Anyway, I plan get back here on a regular basis, so looking forward to getting to know y'all.

Hi there! Good luck to you.
I think I, too, am considered SMO. I just had the Duodenal Switch last Tuesday, and I am starting to feel human this week! Only advice I have is to bring chapstick and a fan to the hospital. :D

Hang in there!

Good luck with your surgery!  Hopefully you will get used to the needles quickly.  The pain and discomfort from the surgery is well worth the beneifts.  Much success to you and hope to see you around!  We are a great group on this board.  Everyone is very encouraging and inspiring!

Thank you Kim.  I suppose since I ***** my fingers on a daily basis I can get through the injections. Just gonna be odd sticking myself in my tummy.  As somebody on another thread reminded me though, there's plenty of fluffiness there so shouldn't feel much at all .. lol

It would be a great help to know what kind of insurance was approved for the surgery by members of this group. . . . . .  I would like to have the surgery. . . . .

Wow for a month afterward that sucks!

On the upside- dream big! I was SMO, and now I'm finally Overweight! I see that your goal is to be healthy (which is the best goal ever) but if you have no direction how will you know when you get there?

My advice is to set some concrete goals, to help you along your journey. Oh and agreed on the chap-stick!

Good Luck,
