Typically (based on observation-empirical evidence) people with a high BMI lose about 100lbs. in the first 6 months. Some more, some less- it depends on your body and choices (like everything else!).

5 months out I passed the 100 lb loss, 34 of them pre-op pounds.
Successful eating for me is staying away from starchy carbs. If I focus on meat protein I do best. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

I had my surgery 2 days before you, and to date I'm down 112lbs, my surgeon told me to have my protein shake in the am, lunch and dinner, no snacking, no bread, tortilla's etc.... and believe me its been hard to follow that, i have added in a protein bar for a snack cause i do find myself hungry mid-day. You are doing great, keep up the good work!!!

I am only a day a head of you! So far I have lost 94 which I am so happy about...but I wi**** would be more. I am pretty much eating everything - My NUT does not forbid bread or carbs...just don't over do it -so I eat whatever I want, within reason. I have not had any "sugary" foods as of yet, except for sugar free ice cream bars. I joined the gym a few weeks ago - I really wish I had a workout buddy - it seems so much easier to do this with another person.

Good Luck Angela - I know we can do this together!

I out 3.5 months and have lost 107lbs.  I find it a struggle too some days.  I have come to the realization that I will always probably struggle with food, but if I get creative with the food that I do tolerate and is healthy for me then it's not a struggle.  Finding new foods and new ways to cook food is an adventure, I say for me at least don't be afraid to try sf versions if you feel tempted to try things we shouldn't.  Sugar free version is better than the real deal.  I stay away from white bread, rice, potatoes, etc.  I do allow whole grain bread once a week or so for toast, maybe oatmeal, I may even have a hamburger with half the bun, though I usually don't even eat half of that.  I don't tolerate sugar or dairy at all either.  You've made it this far, just know that that struggle is normal for us folks who love food.  Just focus, keep on keeping on day after day, take it one meal or one day at a time and you will get through it.  If it's a big issue think about seeing a counselor to work through your food issues.  I have thought about it myself, it can only help!
