Today and the rest of this week and month, I am going to really work on not eating for 3 to 4 hours.  I ate breakfast at 9, so nothing in mouth other than water until noon minimum and 1 the latest.

I have to stop the grazing.  So that will be my next project.  To stop grazing.  I know this is sabotaging me, so I have to get it under control ASAP.  I am not aiming for perfection but I need to manage this better.

What have you done to stop grazing if you have had this issue?  Any tips and suggestions welcomed.  Thanks again for your continued support.

I totally feel your pain. I find that when Im bored I look toward food. I try to stay busy but it is still in the back of my mind especially if there is something I really want BAD! lol It is and will aways be a daily thing with me because I love food. Carbs have never been to hard to go down. But I tell my family all the time that since I have had WLS that I crave "crunchy". I can't explain it. So really don't have a cure for you except know that you are so so not by yourself. I have to deal with the devil everyday. Just do the best you can and know you have support.

I never grazed before surgery, and now it's such a bad habit that I can't even have healthy snacks. I grazed thelast 3 days and feel sick with guilt.
As soon as I have the urge I need to grab my drink or some sf gum. I feel like I have about a 2 minute window before I lose control.  I can gain 5-8lbs a week from grazing.
Did you graze pre-surgery?
As long as I stick to 3 meals a day, nothing in between, 1 day at a time, I don't get hungry and the weight comes off fairly easy.
I like to attend OA meetings as I think these meet my needs a little better than my WLS support group, but due to hubby's work and kids' schedules I can rarely make either. I'm really happy to have discovered this forum though. I hope you find the support and suggestions  you need to help with your grazing. Best to you.

Don't buy food like that and don't keep it in the house. I know how I am: if it's in the pantry I'll eat it until it's gone. Don't put it in the pantry...leave it on the shelf at the grocery store.

I'm not sure that you are doing yourself any favors by cutting out all snacks and limiting yourself to 3 meals a day. For me, at least, that leaves to feeling deprived, which eventually erupts in a binge-type snacking episode.

There is a difference between grazing and planned snacks. Eating small frequent meals helps to keep you blood sugar stabilized with less peaks and dips.

Do you work outside your home? I do - I think it is easier to stick to my pre-planned snacks there as I don't have all the possibilities of my home pantry. I'm not eating fruit at the moment, but when I am, I adore an apple and PB as a snack.

As for bad stuff in the house - I try to ban junky stuff I don't want to be exposed to, but my DH and stepson drag it home anyway. I do make sure they keep it out of my sight, which helps. That was MUCH easier when I was single...

Thanks Patty.  I eat 5 to 6 meals a day when I eat every 3 hours.

LOL, yes, I know that syndrome. That's why I only take so much food with me.

I didn't mean to offend you. It's funny how what works well for one person is not quite right for another.

If I limit myself to 3 meals, I spend way too much time looking foreward to them. Having protein shakes or raw veggies as snacks helps me.

I think that is one reason that I am having trouble deciding which surgery is right for me - because we are all so different in our approaches.
