Hey Cindy,
Don't even know if you remembered me or not but I am also an oldy but goody from back in the day on here. I will be five yrs out in Jan. I read your post and its like I was typing it myself. I will tell anyone that will listen that it is ALWAYS gonna be a daily struggle and choice what you decide to eat. The lord blessed me with getting this surgery and now for the rest of my life I have to do what I can to not mess it up. It is so easy to think like we used to and food almost talks to ya for sure. And theres days that you let your guard down and yes we are all just human and I always said if you were addicted to food like I was well then you will still continue to be all your life you just manage it better because you have to. I still think about you from time to time because I eat pretty regular your recipe for that tuna patties you used to make with eggs. lol How funny things like that you remember? So just to let you know I am so proud of you and we all do the best we can but it is so important for newbies to see what it is like long term out... If it wasnt for this forum I wouldn't have learnt alot of things first hand... So keep walking up that high hill and god bless! Margaret....410/160

So great!  Thanks for posting 5 years out - it inspires me!  Wondering if you would mind posting the recipe for the tuna patties?   :)

cindy! how wonderful to run into you -- and find you're doing GREAT! i'm so happy for you. and congrats on becoming a grandma, too.

i'm just over 5 and a half years out -- and i'm grateful every day for the surgery that gave me this chance at a different life.

you are so right -- it's not easy. but it is SO worth the effort.

take care.
