Adventures in Underwear!

I was able to wear my original size 13 underwear up until April (1 year out). Baggy and not doing much, but the elastic still fit around me. But things wear out. And all these *&(^ low rise pants I'm finding at Goodwill forced my hand...

Let me start this off by saying that I buy underwear in bulk -- always a party pack of cotton undies. Maybe when I get to goal, then I will sashay  myself into Victoria's Secret and get something suitable for husband to remove for me, but not now.

In April I went and bought some 10s because I had no idea what size I was. I wasn't there yet.

Bought some 11s. Excitement here: the last time I was this size the most exotic you could get was a different color granny brief (ooooh, pink? wow!) or something with a teeny flower pattern. Now they have different styles!

Depending on the style, they worked for about two weeks each. The boy shorts were great at first. Then the waist band buried itself in my flabby skin and the hips/leg holes started inching higher and higher. No control on the panni - it just started flooping out below.

Low rise briefs (not bikini -- that ain't happening until after plastics) worked for about another two weeks. Then they started falling down.

Yesterday I weighed what I weighed in mid-June. So I've been bouncing around the last five pounds for 1 1/2 months. But my body is changing because my sizes are changing.
Now I need the 10s. What's working? The old granny brief style, naturally.  I've resigned myself to them until later.

I can't wait until when fall arrives and I can wear my Spanx without risking heat stroke.

One food makes you larger, and one food makes you small...

Honestly I don't get underwear sizing at all.  What's the low down on what these sizes equate?  For years I've been buying my drawers at Lane Bryant, which uses sizes similar to pants (not the Right Fit wonkiness, the normal size).

It's taken me losing nearly 150 lbs and my underwear are just now getting droopy and requiring a swap out.  Isn't it weird how that works!?

The granny style seems to be what works best for me too - too much saggy skin in the front and rump.  I dream of wearing low-rise someday :)

I went into marshalls and found these seamless panties, some in briefs, some in boyshorts. they are like wearing mini spanx. they hold me and my kangaroo pouch in place. i don't know how to describe them exactly, but they are working and were cheaper than shopping in lane bryant (although i was at the outlet store and they had some really cute ones...which i refused to buy because i have like 40 pair of underwear at this point). I think I paid 4.99 for a 2 pack at marshalls.

Michelle...that is a great pic!!!! you look fabulous!

In my up's & down's in weight, I found Love Pats & other "micro fiber" materials work at holding my in, while not being too restrictive or not able to breathe (the material - not me!).

Cotton with a Spandex blend has ALWAYS been my panty of choice, it is snug without the icky hot feeling from polyester.  I think it is usually 98 percent cotton, 2 percent Spandex, or pretty close.

Congrats on the weight loss! I agree, underwear sizing is ridiculous!  My daughter could not figure her size out, even checking the hip measurements.  The cut also have a LOT to do with fit.  What works for one body type, definitely doesn't for another.
