Vitamin question

I'm at the post op point where I need to start taking my vitamins, etc.
I was told to hold off for a few days while I had clear liquids after hospital discharge.

My docs office gave me a list of vitamins and such to have for this, to purchase before surgery so I'd have them when i came home

they recommended gummi multi vitamins, but I'm wondering if that is going to be enough for me.

is there any "advantage" for using vitamins designed especially for bariatric patients vs buying the gummi or kids ones at target or walmart?

also, i'm looking for suggesions for non flavored protein powder.....

GNC's Pro Performance Whey 28 has an unflavored powder.  I tend to prefer the vanilla/chocolate, but if you need unflavored and want one that mixes in well, I give this brand a thumb's up.

On the vites.  Don't use the gummies.  Others have explained this much better than I could, here (I know she has a post on the site, but I don't have time to dig for it - sorry) and here

Andrea is one of the vitamin people here on OH. Check out her blog here on OH about children's and gummy vitamins.www.obesityhelp.com/member/aullberg/

Personally, I take two generic adult Centrums each day, along with Bariatric Advantage iron and a B-50 capsule. Early out I took the chewable Centrum.

I don't think there's an advantage with the bariatric patient vitamins. Personally, I take the BA iron because I can stomach the taste and it didn't make me feel nauseous on a nearly empty pouch.

I've gotten a lot of good info here on OH. I've seen some ridiculous advice as well. But the adult vitamin vs children's makes sense. Not all docs or nutritionists know what they're talking about.

Nonflavored protein is NOT taste free. Still tastes like protein. I recommend the Isopure, but I'd try to get a sample before you drop at least $40 (if not more) for a full tub.

Good luck wading through it all.

I don't think anyone can be completely prepared. It's all incredibly confusing and overwhelming to say the least.

Just do the best you can. It gets easier. You'll be fine.
