WOMEN ONLY PLEASE - Med requirement -SPORTS BRA TYPES???
Ok - I have a question for you ladies. Men, please no snarky stuff, I have a serious question for the women.
I have gone from 325 + pounds to 260 pounds. I am starting to work out. So I need a sports bra. I am also 56 years old.
In addition, my rheumatolgoist (yep heard that right) told me I had to wear sports bras day AND night because I had condochondritis which has been very painful for me. It is damage to tissue connecting sternum and ribs. He said I had to find a bra that would hold breasts up and against my rib cage.
That means I have to find a comfortable sports bra in 40-42 D that I can actually sleep in.
Do you have any suggestions????

Hi,
I have found that Wal Mart has a good line of workout clothes. I have a sports bra that I just pulled out to get the name but it is worn out. I think it is Fruit of the Loom or something like that I paid about $12 to $15 for it. It zips in the front has a nice thick spandex material and kind of comes to a a T in the back with the back being a mesh type material. It does not have any underwires but is sooo supportive. I started out at a high weight of 315 when I started using it and still use it now at 234. I also like the Danskin line of workout clothes I now use a workout tank over my bra for the extra support, I have fallen asleep in my bra and tank and slept just fine. As a matter of fact the outfit I'm wearing is the outfit I use to work out in but I am wearning my regular bra becasue I was just trying the tank on. Hope this helps.

I like Danskin workout clothes, too. However, the bra thing has been a real problem - not only because of the weight, but also because of the pain I am having from costochondroitis.. I have had a couple of breast surgeries in the past, and the rheumatologist thinks that may have caused some damage. I also need to consider mastectomy issues.
I have tried Fruit of the Loom, JMS and Champion, etc. None will do what I need, unfortunately. In fact, I will have some bras to give away or sell on Ebay - I also have cotton Victoria Secret - love the bras, but they don't provide the kind of support I need. I"m getting rid of all of them. A few of them are brand new - I have never even worn them.
I found a specialty bra shop today, and found some bras (sport bra and "regular" but highly supportive bras) that will work. They are more expensive than I have ever paid for bras in my life. For one bra, I paid $116 - It is called a "Prima Donna" bra - apt name, I think (Geesh), and $60 for a sports bra (Goddess). However, the store has a seamstress/tailor (whatever you call it) that specializes in bras, and they will take in bras for free, if my size changes. That is a good deal.
I am not excited about spending a total of $260 on bras, that I have just done. But I can already feel the difference. ;I have been in constant relentless pain for months. Finally now I know what it is and what I can do for it - I'm doing it. My doc prescribed "Ultram" and lectured me about wearing the right kind of bras, day AND night. I don't know how the sleeping is going to be, but I will surely give it a try.

Glad you found something that works for you. Sorry it co$t$ so much. :(
If you are in or near an Academy store sometime, stop in and try the UnderArmour brand. I have one I got on clearance last spring, and it's my very favorite. Supportive, but not too tight. And I'm a 42D also.
If you're getting rid of old bras.. please post the ebay link. Some of us might be interested. :D
