I finished my first 5K on July 3. I was 2 years and 8 months out when I completed this goal.  I went to the gym 3-4 days a week with elliptical or treadmill and weight training with my trainer 3X per week.  Let me tell you that running is nothing like elliptical or treadmill.  When you get out on the street and do this you'll feel muscles that you haven't felt ever before.

I started out at 374 pounds and at 227, I had an extended abdominoplasty to remove the excess skin.  It's much easier to exercise without that massive flap.  Still over 200 pounds...204-205 but now that I've recovered (mentaly and physically) from the 5K, I'm going back to the gym. This last 3 weeks of no exercise has left me lethargic and gross feeling.  Plus I've got to start training for my half marathon in November!
