I have a friend who started out about what you weigh.  She had the VG about 4 years ago.  She has lost all of her weight an has stayed a size 10.  I had the band and only  had about 80 lbs to lose.  I have kept it off for 5 years now.  My other friends who had the band who had 200 lbs. to lose never got down to their goal weight.  They only lost 100 lbs. with the band.  I don't know why, but it seems like the band works best for lightweights.  As for which surgery is best, well in the VG the stomach is removed, so you don't have a blind stomach floating around inside you.  Also the part of the stomach that produces Ghrelin in removed.  In the support group I go to the people who have the VG are really doing well.  It is the people who have had RNY who are crying, yes crying about regain 50 or more pounds a few years out.  The best advice I can give you is research the RNY forums and the VG forums.  Good luck to you.
