Michelle, I loved your blog post. I just returned from my first post-op travel experience and had some struggles. I eventually had to make a call home to the surgeon's office for some medicine. I think I got dehydrated but boy did I feel bad! I am going to have to learn how to be away from home and be successful. Thanks for the tips!
Diet wise I am also in transition. Up until now I have been drinking all of my required protein (96gr, 500 cal) but now feel like I would like more solid food stuffs so I am decreasing to one protein drink and will try and eat two meals for the remainder. Today I have chili here at work and am planning fish for dinner. Now comes the hard part, I am going to have to start journaling, I know I have been having too many calories on my good eating days with the protein drinks.
Time to get accountable!!! Frankly, I dread it. IT feels like going back to the old diet days.
Thanks again, love your blog and you inspire me!

Hi Cheryl,
I'm sorry you didn't feel so well on your travels. Getting dehydrated seems to happen fast and out of no where. When I get to that point I feel absolutely awful. Did you bounce back quickly I hope?
At 4 months out you may be able to up the cals a little... of course follow your NUT, but I think I was at around 6-700 at that phase. Though we're all so different.
Amen on journaling... I find it's less gruesome if I post it here. Feels like a better way to be accountable than use Excel LOL

I did bounce back well, The Dr called in an anti nausea drug and if I stayed on it and sipped water, I felt ok, it slowed me down some but didn't keep me completely out of the action!
I have been around the 800 cal mark for a few weeks (some days more, most days less, it just depends on Edna's mood!) With the 500 cal of protein drinks I know with just one small meal I wa****ting the 800 mark.
My NUT here is NO help at all. I am afraid she is not a WLS expert and I surely need one of those. There is supposed to be a guy who works there who is better and I may need to see him, I hate to risk a bad appt since my ins. won't cover those nice little extras.
I just finished lunch....3/4 cup of homemade chili (I'd have to guess the calories but very lean) and 1/2 slice of cheese.(55cal, 4gr pro). I've had one protein drink (210 cal and 51 gr pro) and a couple of cups of coffee. So far so good I think.
I appreciate your input.....feel free to set me straight if you think I might be astray!

Ohh, for some reason I read your other post and thought you were only getting 500 cal/day, which sounded low to me. I'm sorry to hear your nut isn't much help! I haven't been impressed with mine and won't waste the money to return. Our program really needs someone who specializes in bariatric care. Love my surgeon and his immediate support staff... the rest of the team, not so much!
