IVC Filter?

Hey All,

Anyone have an IVDC Filter inserted before surgery?

I'm having a "retrievable" one put in on the 20th and am wondering what to expect?

I haven't had one, but there should be some past posts about it. They sound scary, but are great!

I do know that one of our old forum regulars was saved by hers when she threw a clot.

I had one placed a couple days prior to surgery and of course was nervous BUT it went really well.  Once it was in no issues they had a tricky time due to my size at the time but really it went good.   I had it removed about 3 months after surgery and was more nervous then because that's what I seem to do but really it was no big issue.  Best of luck to you!

I'm having a permanent one put in by the surgeon during my surgery.  I've had a blood clot so am grateful that he can use this. 

Yeah, if mine does not mention it, I'm sure going to ASK for it!
