Losing Weight

I know we are all different and we should not compare ourselves  to each other.  I know we all lose weight differently.  My head knows alot of things about this process.  The rest of me, however, does not get it.  I am 6 weeks out.  I have lost right at 25 lbs since the surgery.  I go to different forums and see people at 7 and 8 weeks who have lost around 50, and I wonder, am I doing something wrong?  I follow my surgeons suggestions.  I walk 4 to 5 times a week.  I am getting my protien in.  I thought this past week my stall had broken, but now, after losing the 5 lbs I lost last week, it seems I am at a stall again.  This whole thing can play with your head.  I am losing.  Why can't I just be happy with the fact that I am losing?  Ughh!  Just a little frustrated this morning and thought I would vent.  Thanks for listening!

We are so impatient.  Your head "knows" but your heart/emotions don't always "know" that you are doing JUST fine.   It has taken me longer than a lot of people to lose too, but the numbers do add up..  I've had stalls, even small gains at times.  But I loyally weigh only once per week and that helps me not get too crazy.  Soon, if not already, you'll feel it in clothes, energy, fitting into places and things you couldn't, and you'll be able to let go of the number on the scale a bit.

Hang in there - sounds like you are doing GREAT!!!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

Thanks Mary.  I am feeling it in my clothes already, and also more energy, and able to do more.  I weigh myself way too much!  It would probably be better if I didn't.  Thanks for the encouraging words!

It seems no matter which surgery - everyone stalls around week 3 and then really starts losing again about a month later.

I've been lurking on the boards for years and the pattern didn't really sink in to my head until it happened to me.

The stalls/palteaus often have a 5lb +/- range so you could still seem to fluctuate a little while you're waiting for your body to catch up and start losing again.

Try to keep it in your head  that everything is fine and NORMAL.  It's a really hard thing to do!

Also, if your head is having a hard time now - I hate to say it but it will probably be even harder during later plateaus.  (it has been that way for me)

If you ever figure out the whole "being happy" thing let us know how that works!  Good Luck!
