Freak Out Moment!!

Well I am almost at my 2 weeks and have been feeling better everyday. Until Sunday night I was in the bathroom and happen to notice this liquid dripping on the floor, then I noticed it was coming from my incesion (I had a open RNY) talk about freaking out because it was a lot of liquid. Thank god my husband was there. I call the doc's answering service and they had one of the doctors call me back to let me know this can be normal and not to worry. I have a appoinment to see my doc for my 2 week visit on Thursday and Ii really hope all is well. It decided to drain some more last night so I am starting to get scared that there is something else wrong but I have very little pain and i'm not running a fever so those should be good signs. Has anyone else been though this? Any info would be great. Thanks
Michelle

I didn't have it happen with my RNY, but I had one of my ovaries removed in 2004 and my drainage  was like that. It was gross.

I'm not a nurse or anything, but it sounds kinda normal. Maybe some tissue was blocking the drain and the liquid started collecting behind it. You moved the right way to break the blockage and tada.

Keep an eye on the bulb and good luck at the doc's on Thursday.

Yes, I heard about that in one of my seminars and was told it could be very common and not to worry, to just call the office the next morning.  (And, the best thing to use on it is a maxi pad! LOL!) Apparently, it can be A LOT of bloody fluid sometimes.

Anyway, I know I'm late to post and you've long since seen your doctor.  I hope you are doing great!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I did go to the doctor Thursday and he is not worried about it said it can happen in 5-10% of people. He still took my staples out (thank goodness), it is still leaking when it wants too lol,but i know it will stop soon. And yes maxi pads are the best to cover it up. So far everything else looks good my doctor even told me to start eating some soft foods. Mentally I am still at the " What did you do to yourself" stage but i am sure that will change soon.
