I have 33 days until surgery. I am dealing with a barrage of emotions; Happy, sad, scared, anxious, excited, etc. I am sure that this is all normal. The fact that I have to wait so long from approval (May 28) to surgery (July 21) has not helped either and I realize that. I have had a lot of time to think about things and believe me, this surgery is all I can think about! I had to wait so long because of my surgeons schedule. He is a very busy man. Anyone deal with all of these emotions?

Yes waiting stinks, but when the date gets here everything will change. You will still be emotional even after your surgery because your life is changing. Just remember all the changes you go through are for the better and it is a wonderful journey. Are you having the RNY or Sleeve? Just remember if you need anyone to talk to feel free to email me and I will give you my number.

Just a note My dad had the RNY January 20, 2010 and has lost 76 pounds so far. He is doing great with it. It is so nice that we can compare are surgerys to see the diffrences. I love it because I no longer take any med but vitamins. He is diabetic and is slowly being able to take less. his med are givin in lower doses now. Just remember were here for ya and I will be watching your countdown.

It will go by fast. Try to keep busy, because thinking about it will make you crazy.

Everything you are feeling is normal, & it will get worse, the closer it gets. (esp a couple of days before the surgery) You will ask yourself, WTH am I doing?!?!?!?!? BUT....99% of people go thru the exact same thing.......Good news...YOUR NORMAL!!!!! We will save a seat for you on the bench!!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to wait from October 24 to January 20th for my surgery and it was awful. I just wanted to be on the other side of it. I was excited and terrified, sometimes at the same time, and it was a rollercoaster. I was surprisingly calm when I got to the surgery, though, so I wonder if the time may have been helpful that way.

It also really helped me to focus on the fact that whatever I was losing while waiting for surgery was gone for good -- a hope I didn't have before I was accepted for surgery.

Stay strong!

Ooohhh yes.  I started seriously pursuing surgery Dec. 08 with my PCP (started 6 month diet then).  Met with the surgeon June 09.  Had surgery Nov 09.  Almost of anxiety, excitement, and all the other feelings that go along with it.  It's perfectly normal and our surgeon tells us if we weren't nervous, he'd be worried LOL

I had an awesome counselor, awesome supportive friends, and go to an awesome support group.  It all helped.  But mostly you just have to breathe and push through.  (((hug)))
