Hiya friends,

Thought I'd share my post today in my journal with you.  No one understands the significance of being able to do things (like riding a bike) like the 50+ board.  It meant so much to me I made my daughter record a video of me doing it!  LOL

So far we've had such a nice weekend.  What are you ladies and lads up to?

That is such a huge accomplishment.  A big pat on the back for you.  I also have just starting riding my bike.. I was under ten years old the last time i had done that.  I saw ur video and ur great!  I still can't get used to stoping and going.  I am lucky I guess that i don't live in a hilly area like you, but I am terrified that I have to actually stop at a Stop Sign cause I don't think i could get enough momentum to go again without falling over, lol.  I guess practice and wearing a helmet are my only hope.

Keep up the good work and you will hit ur miilestone before you know!!

Enjoy ur long weekend!
Toni

Great job!  That is one of my goals!  I will have to go to your blog and watch the video.

50 lbs lost pre-op-the rest is post op.

YaY for you, Michelle! I have enjoyed riding my beach cruiser I treated myself to for my one-year surgiversary. Feels great that we can ride, doesn't it?! I's fun! Hoping you have memorable cruises this Summer of 2010.

Michelle,

You don't know it...But I am in secret competition with you.  :)  We are close in surgery dates and I am about 10 lbs behind you on the scale.  I am always happy to see you progress and am so proud of you for getting back on the bike.  I haven't ridden a bike since I was a kid...but have been looking forward to it since my surgery.

I am going to get a bike this week or weekend, after seeing your video.  Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

What kind of bike do you have?  I don't want to spend a ton of $$ on one but am scared of breaking a cheap bike.  Any tips would be appreciated.

Again - thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks all!  It's awesome to enjoy these milestones with others that understand their significance.

Kim, I've noticed we're nearly surgery sisters with our dates and weights :)  I love following your progress, you've done so well!  Hmm we need to do a weekly check-in thread, I don't think one is up.

Anyway, the bike you see me with is a Men's Murray Mountain Bike that was my brother's bike in high school.  I would definitely like to get a new one for myself down the road, but since this one is functional, it'll do for now.  The bike is 15yrs old and has held up exceptionally well, but a quick scan online tells me they're not making bikes under that name any longer.  My neighbor who is a die hard biker helped me swap out the seat for a wider gel one and it makes it soooooooo much more comfortable!
