Hair Loss Questions

I know a lot of people experience hair loss at some point after WLS. I am 5 months out and am shedding like crazy. I was just wondering if this is temporary and what did people do to slow it down.   Luckily my hair is pretty thick so it is not noticable.  Thank you in advance for any thoughts.

Mine was coming out pretty bad at about 5 months out. It slowed down after that. I thought it actually looked worse when it was growing back in.

Occasionally, if I don't keep my protein up, I see the results a few days later in the shower.

Some people swear by biotin supplements. Others by nioxin shampoos. But the loss you're seeing right now is from some time ago, so starting either may not do any good for a little while.

So far, upping my protein and getting all my supplements in has been the most important thing for me.

Best of luck.

I shed like crazy from 3 months up until the past few weeks.  I went from a long hair style to getting cut to just below my ears.  I take Biotin every day.  I echo the importance of protein.  I also get in some good fats like avocado and hope that that helps.  Getting my hair cut short was probably the best thing I did though b/c while I continued to lose hair, it didn't make me want to sob the way seeing long strands come out did :)

I hit my protein goals from week 1 and still had major hair loss. Like you, I have naturally thick hair, so no one else noticed, but boy! was I freaking out at first!

It has grown back and is just as thick and wavy, so don't worry. I make sure to have good, lean protein every day, and nature does the rest. The same will likely happen for you!
