Sports bras were the most comfortable for me. If your incision is like mine, it started right between my breasts so regular ones were out of the question for a couple of weeks. The cotton sports bras will also absorb any moisture which will aid in your healing. Good luck.
I was disappointed too about the open surgery. To be honest it will hurt like crazy for about 36 hours and then you will begin to improve rapidly. I took 2 weeks off of work and rested. You will need to plan for some down time as well. If I can be of any help just let me know.

Valmont makes a nice leaisure bra.  I think Justmysize.com carries them.  Just get two, because you won't need one around the house.  Good luck and post any time with any questions.  I had open surgery.  The only bad part was getting in and out of bed at the hospital.  I just reminded myself each time that the pain of it was over very quickly.  I would say, OK Loris you can do this.

Also you may end up sleeping in a recliner for a while.  Ease back into your bed with naps.  Start now by practicing sleeping on your back.  Learn now how many pillows you need under your knees and such.  Loris

I had open bypass surgery because of my asthma and to be honest with you a sports bra was fine for me and my other bras were just as good when I had to go out. Its not a odd question its a very good question to be honest with you. If I was hanging around the house I would wear those tank tops with the bra support and just lift it up over my scar when I was by myself and around the house...and trust me I went from a 40DD to a 38B so be prepared for that!! Good luck with your surgery and congrats on your new rebirth day!! Keep us posted!

Thank you all for the great information. I'm checking things off my list daily, as I try to get all the little things in order before surgery. Protien shakes are my next challange. I have been taste testing but I hear that your taste changes after surgery, so i want to fine the best unflavored one so i can just add it to everything. This board is great!!! I think the best way to learn about something is to listen to the people that have been though it themselves. Thanks everyone!!
