5/17 Checkin: All Folks Welcome!

Well, I've started my post menstrual dip for the month. I do this three steps forward, two steps back thing every single freakin' month. It's annoying, but it's how my body works.

Starting Weight: 388 (May 2008)
Last Week (how many weeks?): 250
Today: 246 (new low)

6 more pounds to my drivers license weight!

Anyhow, I broke my 10 percent keychain I got from Weigh****chers 10 years ago. At that time, my 10 percent was 40 pounds. I started out at 400. When I had my regain after that loss, I never did get back up to 400. I'm not sure the keychain had anything to do with me not busting 400 again, but during my regain period, when I would contemplate it, it would make me very disappointed in myself.

I have to find something inspiring to replace it.

Everyone have a great week!!

WOW! I am so excited to see the scale move. My lowest adult weight is 210 and I am so anxious to meet and then go past that dreaded number.
Our family has been under lots of strain this past week, hopefully as the school year winds down things will lighten up or at least my hubby will be home to help deal with it!
Hope yu all have a wonderful week full of unexpected blessings!

Good Morning

Patti..I see you had a good week.. I am right there with you this week with a 4 lb loss..  YAY.You are getting closer to being an honest woman on your drivers license... I can't wait to celebrate that with you..I have a special happy dance all prepared..

I finally had a good week and feel good too.. The sinus infection is a lot better..well almost all gone but a lot lot better after anti-biotic.. and the cough has finally disappeared..This gave way to me being able to really get in some good exercises this week..

As of today I have lost 50 lbs since my surgery..   today is 25 weeks out, so that averages out to 2lbs a week..not too bad I guess with all I lost before surgery and also considering I was stalled the whole month of March with tha****er weight gain.

How frustrating that when I finally have a great week I can't update my ticker...aaarrrggg...
I hope they get all that fixed soon...

I hope everyone had a good week and will have one this next coming week..  see you all next Monday..

Huggs. ..

Today's Weight - 270.2

I actually got down to 268.8 last week for about 3 seconds.  Then my husband got on the scale at 198...I got back on and it was back up to 270.  He claims he broke it.  :)

I did walk a mile everyday last week!  YAY!  Going to walk and mile and quarter each day this week.  My plan is to increase 1 lap each wee****il I am doing 2 miles.  I am walking at work with a bunch of guys who are trying to be healthier.  It is nice to have people to walk with.

My 6 month surgiversary is tomorrow.  I expect to be at 269 which would put me at exactly 85 lbs. lost.  I lost 55 lbs the first 3 months and that would give me 30 for the last 3 months.  It sure has slowed down ALOT.

I got all my bloodwork back and the only thing out of line is my Vitamin D.  It was at a 20 which is deficiency.  I take a vitamin D pill everyday.  The only thing I can think is causing the deficiency is that I often times forget to take my calcium and seems to me that there is a link there...but I am going to do some research on it.  Let me know if you have any info on it.  I am sure I will hear it from my Doc on Thursday when I go to my follow up.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi Kim..

First off let me say Happy surgriversary..   and congrats on 85 lbs gone in 6 months.. way to go.. I am right at 50lbs lost .. I have a week to go till my 6 month surgiversary but I probably wont drop maybe another 1lb or 2 by then.. SO I am jealous..

I just did my blood work for 6 months out too.  Before surgery I was deficient in Vitamin D,, now at 6 months my level was 74.. I wanted to tell you that if you are taking a regular vitamin D supplement they are a soft capsule packed with oil.. most Vitamin D's are packed in oil..  oil is a fat and well we just don't absorb fat so therefore you are not absorbing the Vitamin D that is in it..

Vita Lady has a Tender Dry Vitamin D... I take the 5000 IU  3 times a day.. I take it with my calcium chews. that also helps me absorb the calcium even though the calcium has D in it, it is not enough.. .. The Vitamin is Tender D3-5.  We need the D3 not D2.. It has worked great for me.. It was recommended by Andrea U.. she also recommended I take Dry A..to not get deficient in it..  I also order it from Vita Lady.. I take it once a day..

I did come up short on my Iron. My nut told me since I didn't have TOM I didn't need it.. well she was wrong.. my iron was 29.  should be at least 80 for an RNYer.. So now Andrea recommended I take 60 mg Carbonyl Iron, CVS carries it.. along with Vitamin C (200mg per 30mg iron).. I am going to start this right away.. Andrea has done so much research and well as a veteran (she is 5 1/2yrs) out she has experienced a lot of things.. and done extensive research on vitamins..

If you have any other vitamin questions she is the one to get in touch with..she is usually on RNY forum.. I hope you get your D levels up.. most of the US is vitamin D deficient.. so you are not alone,.. but without the Vitamin D you will not get the calcium you need and that will lead to brittle bones..

I hope I had some incite for you.. I do not claim to know a lot about the vitamins but I have learned that the doctors and nuts do not know everything or as much as these old timers on here.. There has been no research on RNY's long term vitamin absorption.. but the ones that are out there know what they have had to do to stay at the levels they need.. so seek advice.. I can share more with you of what I have learned from them on the vitamins if you want .. you can pm me..

Good Luck to you.. and use your common sense.. the doctors and nuts are not Gods.. just think.. there are some that are still recommending people take Flintstone Vitamins..

huggs...

Thanks Teresa!  I did reach out to Andrea to get some info.  You were both very helpful.  I bought some citracal last night but it is only 500 IU so I am taking 2 of them 2x per day.  I need to get online and get the mega dose stuff.

Thanks for the feedback and info!

I feel pretty good about that, since when I came home from the hospital on Wednesday I was back up to 357.  I am assuming the loss gets started now.

50 lbs lost pre-op-the rest is post op.

I was awfully bummed that I had to take 3 days off from the gym due to severe allergies, but I've switched meds and hopefully things are better. Unfortunately I think I'm allergic to work...no seriously I think the room I'm in has something I'm highly allergic to, oh well at least all the weight lifting I've been doing seems to be working!

Funny sister but I think I found the 4lbs you lost.

Highest weight - 325+
Surgery date - 302
Last week - 227.2
This week - 231

I'm pleased that I survived a week long trip to San Diego without more of a gain. No exercise beyond the 5 miles a day walking during my nursing conference (unfortunately as a nurse my body is definately used to this) and eating decadant meals out with my friends didn't help me much but such is life.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Lucy

p.s. - I'm so close to the 100lb mark that I can taste it and I'm now only 11 lbs above my drivers license weight. I'll be shattering two milestones in no time.

Well, things are really starting to slow down and I worry now that my weight loss window is closing fast!  I'd like to get to 150lbs (the stupid BMI chart says 130 - but what do they know)!
The thought of losing another 35lbs is overwhelming right now. I wonder if my body is even capable of it.
Dang it!  I've lost 145lbs - why can't I just enjoy it??!!
