How many calories do you typically eat???
I know that everyone is different but I am just wondering how many calories people are getting in, I am about 9 months out and am just curious. I feel like I need to get in with my nutritionist again soon to make sure I am at the right amount but I am just interested in people's input, I appreciate your reponse in advance.
This is a very touchy issue for me. Our nut's don't give calorie guidance which frustrates the heck out of me. It would be very easy for me to say - "Oh, I got my 80 g of protein in! And I still have space, so let me eat this and this and this..." I need to watch my calories because I'm a binge eater and I can feel that pull to return to those habits. Being diligent with calories is the only way I've found to really keep me reined in.
Until about a month ago I was averaging 700-800 calories/day with the occasional day going higher than 800 (usually around TOM). Lately I've been feeling as though 900-1,100 calories is a better range for me, but I let myself get freaked out about this because so many other post-ops I see posting here at six months out don't eat nearly that much. And I don't know if that's because they're doing what they should or because they're not eating enough and should be eating more. Ack!
I still have 80 lbs to lose to get to a goal weight of 180. And I'm only almost six months out. I don't want to slow down with still so far to go. But I know deprivation will never work for me either. Sigh.
Haven't been thrilled with the nut's so far, but I may go back just to see if I can learn any more.

Hi! I had surgery just before you and I eat a ton- about 1200-1600 cal a day. I don't really count calories though, I just don't eat sugar, white flour, fruit, or rice, but I do eat lots of protein and veggies and some whole grains.
I also work out 5 or 6 days a week for about an hour and a half (weights/cardio). I eat 3 meals a day, 2 protein shakes, and 2 small snacks. I still have about 40lbs to go, but I'm really focusing on becoming healthy and strong! I want to participate in Triathlons next year!!!

Thank you so much for sharing this. It helps me a lot to hear about folks continuing on the losing path while eating more. Clearly you're doing awesome with workouts and I'm not quite there yet, but I'm thinking I need to stop stressing so much about being lower calorie. It's probably quite counterproductive! LOL
Your success very much so inspires me :)

That's so super sweet Michelle- thanks . I have turned my WLS into my new hobby, and I don't have kids to worry about, so it's been easy to focus on me.
But I know that a lot of people stall cuz their not getting enough food, I don't want my body to think I'm starving and hold on to every calorie, but I still maintain a deficit to keep the pounds a-droppin.
You've done great- keep it up!!!

I am just over 6 months out. I try not to take in more than 1000 calories a day. I don't measure/weigh my food. I try not to obsess over the food. I usually eat greek yogart with protein powder for breakfast, a moderate low carb lunch, and the same for dinner. I have slipped and allowed some unhealthy carbs in, but I am in the process of resisting and getting them out of my house.
During the weight loss phase I was eating about 600-800 calories per day--it lasted about a year and a half. Gradually added more, until I was eating about 1600 a day and maintained 160 pounds for about 9 months or so.
Then I started running, and the next 30 pounds fell off, but I did have to add more fuel to my daily intake, especially lean protein and veggies. So my daily intake is about 2500--and I'm maintaining because I run about 35 miles a week. If something happened to me tomorrow where I couldn't exercise anymore, I'd have to seriously cut down my intake!
