help
I have been MIA for awhile I am so frustrated with myself I have done the whole process and then the surgeon said I had to lose 50 more pounds to get me to a safer weight so what the heck is wrong with me I cant seem to get on board and stay there. My husband thinks I am just not motivated and that I dont really want it. Why cnt he see HOW MUCH I WANT IT..... I just dont know what to do I dont want to live at this weight anymore but I cant stay on my pre op diet either. I guess I am just venting and having a pitty party.

Well, since you are asking for advice, here's what I think:
It looks like you have several options...
1 - First, I think you should consider changing the procedure you're having done. I'm guessing that you might be having a RNY? For those of us in the BMI > 50 category it's been proven that DS (duodenal switch) gives us a better chance of long term success and, even more to the point for your immediate problem, a lot of the doctors that I've been hearing about in the DS forum don't seem to require too much, if any, pre surgical weight loss. (They still might require, however, the normal pre-op liquid diets and/or Atkins to shrink your liver.) If you are interested in learning more about DS, go to the DS forum here and/or DSFACTS.com.
2 - Find another doctor, even if you stick with whatever your current procedure is. Another doctor might only require that you lose 10% or even 5% of your current weight. Perhaps even none. The first surgeon I was planning to use did not require any weight loss.
3 - Keep the same doctor, but get some help to lose the weight. You might try something over the counter like the Alli diet pills. You might ask your PCP to prescribe something like Phenterimine or Xenical. Or, you might try a hypnotist or a psychologist who does cognitive behavioral therapy.
4 - Exercise more.
5 - Do some combination of the above options.
Good Luck!

This concerns me since your surgeon my surgeon. I'm meeting with her next week and if she tells me I'll have to lose 50 lbs I'll probably go somewhere else. That's kinda the point of having the surgery is that I haven't been able to lose 50 lbs by myself! I'm planning on having the gastric sleeve- not sure if that makes a difference. Stick with your decision, though! Even if you have to make changes to the process you have to get there.
