I am a little confused about the liquid pre-op diet, why does it range from 2 weeks up to 4 weeks??
r there specific medical conditions that require a longer diet or is there some 'magic' BMI or weight that is considered safer for the surgery?
started this process back in 2007/2008 denied MGB, denied for Barix, put on hold (BMI was too high for pilot phase)at St.joe's and since moved to Windsor and had to start again, December, 2009 referral sent from GP...April 5 and 8, 2010 1st appt at Windsor clinic with nurse and doc
April 16, 2010 sleep clinic, April 27 echo
May 3,2010 Orientation at Met hospital--,

It all depends on the surgeon. What they feel comfortable with. Some require even less time like 2 days. Some no time at all.

The biggest reason you do a liquid diet is to shrink the size of your liver, it is the organ that your doctor has to work around the most. On some occasions the surgeon cannot get around the liver, and that's one reason the open incision is still done.

Good luck on your WLS Journey!
