I've had a great week. Hiked 3 times and finally on the third day my workout buddy brought a pedometer. We discovered that hikes we have been doing are 7 to 7.5 miles. The funny thing is that we hiked at another state park last week and talked about "working up" to a 4 mile hike there. What can I say besides we rock?

The first hike was solo (I survived intact....was a bit concerned about my own clumsiness, I've been known to sprain an ankle walking on flat ground), the second hike was with a new boy in my life  and the third was with sis and great friends. To be honest I was a bit pooped on the third hike because it happened the day after the second.

On the hike with the new boy we noticed big cat prints in the mud (I subsequently noticed a LOT more prints on the third hike but then I was looking for them) which cured me immediately of ever hiking solo there again. Freaked out was an understatement. I mean I knew that mountain lions were a part of the ecosystem and would be out there somewhere but I had no idea that they would be so close to human development.

I will never walk alone again. I don't run fast, even with a mountain lion chasing me, and I'm so freaking clumsy that the cat wouldn't even have to work to get me. I would see her, start running, stumble, sprain my ankle or crack my noggin and become big cat chow. I would be the easiest catch of the season.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Keep hiking.. you are doing great... 7-7.5miles... WOW..

I bought a good pedometer too and it does really help..it is hard to know what distance you cover without one..

NEVER WALK ALONE... not in any type of wilderness area or where big cats can be... We don;t want you to be cat chow...lol.... My daughter lived in the outskirts of the Denver area for two years and the cats would get people walking on the trails right in town.. scary....

We have lots of predatory animals in our neck of the woods too.. I stay out of the wooded areas alone   and when hubby and I do go we carry a gun...lol... but we do live out in the country.. and mostly it is our land we walk on.. we have 53 acres here.. .

The only thing I have to watch for when walking on the roads is snakes.. we have copper heads and water moccasins and rattlers.. they venture out onto the roads alot.. I also try to walk down the middle of the road because they lie in wait in the ditches.. I have bought a reflective vest to wear when I walk so cars can see me from a great distance so I have time to move.. But I may walk for an hour and only see 1 car.. like I said we are way out in the country...

Keep safe and keep hiking..

Huggs.....

In a stall, not happy about it, but I'm hoping it's due to the fact that I've started weight lifting again. Working on focusing on the fact that I'm in much better shape than I was 160+ pounds ago......
