When does it start getting easier?

Hi all

I am pre opp and hope to have surgery at the end of May with a BMI of 61 (ouch!)!  Today I worked outside on my yard mostly hunched over in pots.  My body is killing me and I don't feel like I was doing anything extremely strenuous either.

At what point after surgery did your body start feeling better?  Was it a certain weight or a certain amount of weight loss?

I just can't wait for that day so I can take back my life and start getting more active.

The first full week for me was rough.  But after that with each day I felt better and better.  I would say it took me about four full weeks to get back to myself.  Just remind yourself to be patient and that it will get better in time :)  I'm over 5 months out now and I never anticipated feeling as good as I do.
Highest:  380 / Surgery Day:  344 / Current:  203.8 / Goal:  ~180 / Total Loss:  176.2

my BMI was around 75 b4 i started my weightloss program pre-op.. i was in so much pain from carrying so much weight around i could barely walk 10 steps without needing to sit down..  i had open RNY and it took me a couple months to just get bk up an to my "normal" self...  im 1 yr an 2 months post op..  ive really not had any complications other then dizzy/fainting spells that took forever to diagnose.. ended up being nerve damage from yrs of being diabetic pre-op.. neropathy.. something like that.. but now im on meds for that an alls well in that area.. and i can walk circles around super wal-mart HA! so thats like 10 steps x 1000  i did end up with an incisional hernia... but that was my own fault i over did it shoveling snow.. just because i felt like super woman.. an i could do it didnt mean i had to push myself so hard to do it all we had over 50 inches this winter an i shoveld it al myself cuz hubby had a heart attack an open heart surgery... but bk to ur question.. when did i start feeling better.. i'd say just over 3 months out.. i noticed a significant change in lil things like getting out of bed... walking to bath room.. putting shoes on... getting dressed.. all without major struggle and pain.. no more poking myself 7 times a day to check my sugar levels.. and so on..  good luck... btw my BMi is now under 50 baarely.. but im getting there..  good luck with ur journey

Hey Peggy,

Could you tell me a little more about the incisional hernia? How did you know you had one? What did they do?
I'm afraid I may have one, but it also could be eggs dropping and I don't want to go to the doc unnecessarily.....
