Getting my water in...no longer feels like work

I am just over 5 months post op.  Last week I decided I would try to use a straw.  I know...my Dr. says 6 months and I have stuck to it until last week.  Haven't had any issues.

I had been going to Sonic (not sure if you have these in your area but they make the best drinks)  I was addicted to their diet pepsi pre-op.  I started getting the un-sweet tea but didn't like all the caffeine so I had a brainstorm!

I started getting their Route 44 ice water and then adding in my own crystal light.  I bought some Ocean Spray sugar free drink mixes the other day.  I got White Cran Peach, Blueberry Pomegranate, and Cran Grape.  I mix 2 of the packets into my Route 44 water and usually fini**** off before lunch.  Then I refill (they give you tons of crushed ice...the good kind) with water from the drinking fountain and make another drink.

I actually think I got this idea off of one of the other forums...so it wasn't really mine...but it has helped me with my water intake.  A route 44 ice water is 94 cents in my town.  I don't know if they charge less for a route 44 cup of ice but I am going to find out.  This is less than the $1.25 bottle of water I pay for from the vending machine when I forget to bring my own.

Just thought I would share for anyone that can use a straw now.  I am loving it!

That is great Kim.. I am glad that you are able to get in your liquids now.. it will help with the weight loss...the drinks your making sounds great..

Just one word of warning about the straw.. I know everyone says it will cause the pouch to stretch.. it wont.. dont worry about that .. but it will give you more gas.. you are taking in air every time you drink form the straw.. so if you find out that you are more gassy then you were.. it is the straw...

Maybe a little gas will be worth it to be able to get in your liquids.. but I know when I get gassy I have bad belly pains..  I hope that does not happen to you... even chewing gum can add air and make you gassy..

Good luck with it.. I hope it continues to work for you and no problems..

huggs...
