gross question

I have a very high bmi and I also have a big problem. My lower abdomen breaks open and stinky nasty fluid oooooozes out. There are scabs and dry skin and all kinds of nastiness going on. My dr's don't konw what it is. They theorize it's edema of some sort leaking out.
Has anyone else been thru this? Did anything help?

It sounds like Lymphedema...google it for more information. I have it in my legs, at the worse I'd have spots open up and leak lymph fluid. I would also get cellulitis quite often, you might have that and the stinkiness is due to infection. Please seek a doctor who knows about this, perhaps a dermatologist or vascular surgeon...those are two areas that typically know and recognize Lymphedema.

Sure does sound like lympedema. About 3 1/2 years ago I finally, after a half year of arguing with social services had qualified for medicaid and the first thing I did was go to the practitioner my family uses. Unfortunately I had to go bac three times but finally she sent me to have manual drainage.

During that time I has developed a wound on my left ankle and fluid wold seep out, it was scabbed and was just a horrible situation. The folks at the edema place took good care of me and I had to go to Charlotte for treatment. The long and short of it is that you don't want to wait. If the doctor doesn't know then tell them to look into it. If they are unwilling, then seek another one out.
