Looking for some good vibes

Hello there!

I posted a new blog post, my first in about a month just going over what my body has been up to over the last month.

I feel like I am in the middle of a stall. It's been a month and ive gained/lost the same 1-2lb. I started being more strict about tracking my food/water and found that I get about 800-1100 calories a day. Ive cut back on my carbs, even though I love them! Still I am staying at 242ish. I am kind of worried, but I am 6 months out... I am about due for a stall right? I am really not sure.

Other than that I have quit my gym. I felt like they were trying to scam me. I even had to change my debit card number to get them to finally stop billing me after I signed the cancellation paperwork. Quitting isnt a step in the right direction, but on the plus side it is so beautiful outside lately I have been out and about. Bike riding, playing with my 3 year old. It feels good to be more active. Maybe it isn't  a structured exercise program but just being able to move more feels great.

I have my 6 month post op visit tomorrow and I am hoping for good results. I am concerned that my vitamin levels are off but that's part of why I have the visit, to check it out.

I get that voice in my head a lot lately that this is it, I have lost all the weight I am going to lose and the rest is going to be an uphill battle. Is this normal? Does it ever stop? Well, I am ready for the fight. I've changed so many habits and am already volumns healthier than I was before, I just want the physical image to catch up with the mental image, ya know?

Anyhow, thanks for letting me vent. please send me your good vibes! :)

Hiya Crystal,

I'm only a couple of months ahead of you, so I know exactly how you feel. Especially when I'm in a stall I can't help but worry that this is it, but I know that it's not.
We just have to keep doing what we're doing and it will come off- I firmly believe that!

But what gym were you a member of that you had such a hard time with? Is there another gym  you could join? Or maybe videos you could get? I don't think everyone has to go to the gym, but just make sure your getting in those sweat minutes!!

Good luck with your labs, I hope they're great- oh that reminds me I need to go by more iron (my lab was in the toilet!)

Thank you for the words of encouragement. It really helps :)

I saw the surgeon today and he says that I am doing great. I am down 80lb from surgery. I thought it was more but, alas I was wrong. I am still happy with my 80lb though.

He changed my goal weight. He now says that I should lose another 40-80lb and be happy with that. So again I've increased my goal. I want to be as realistic as possible. I've bumped it up to 155, it may go higher still. The thing that he said that I need to keep in mind is that anything 200 or lower should be concidered a success. Even if I only get to 200, if I can stay there it is a success.

My labs all came back amazingly good, which is awesome.

The part I am realy smiling about is from my weight print out. I am 107lb fat mass and 133lb fat free mass. My fat free mass is finally higher than my fat mass! WOOT! :) Or the other way around, my fat mass is finally lower. ;)

Crystal,

I am sure you are just in a stall... I am a little over 4 months out and I was in a stall, loosing and gaining the same 2-3lbs all the  month of March.. Now finally after the the second week in April the scale began to move again.. so don't worry.. stalls are really frustrating but they happen to all of us and we just have to keep doing what we know is the right things to do and have patience.. I know I know patience is so hard when you want to see the weight coming off. but all you can really do is wait it out.. Make sure you measure.. I had to be reminded to measure in my stall, and I was glad I was, because I was indeed loosing inches when the lbs were not coming off..

I do go to the gym but I only go about once a week.. I can not afford a gym membership so I pay per day to use the facilities which is only $5.. maybe you can find another gym nearby that you can try to do that with.. if not don't worry about the gym.. get outside in this beautiful weather and walk walk walk.. I started out my aerobic walks at 1/4 mile and have slowly increased them as I could and now I am able to walk 3 miles.. I also have a bike but have not gotten it out for summer yet.. (I need to) I have a stationary one too.. I walk on the treadmill when the weather is bad.. playing with your son is great exercise but remember you need the cardio too... Walking is cheap and needs no equipment.. so do what you can.. I feel that if I don't move the scale don't move.. so I move move move..

If people only lost weight for 6 months with the surgery they would not be getting it.. This is a lifetime change and the weight will continue to come off for as much as 18 months to 2 years and for some it is even more.. yes after 6 months it slows down but it does not stop.. so don't you stop either.. try to have patience.. one day you will get on the scale and it will be moving again.. since you seem to be in a stall I would suggest only weighing once a week.. other wise you will drive yourself nuts..

Also you might consider that your body was used to you going to the gym and working out and now that you have stopped that it may take it time to adjust to what you are doing now..there are a lot of factors to consider, but most likely it is just the dreaded stall..

I am glad you got on here for encouragement because that is what will allow you to have the patience necessary when the scale is not moving..

Keep up with what you are doing.. Watch the carbs (bad news)... and move move move..

huggs..
