Chop that hair!

So last week I scheduled a day off for just ME.  No work responsibilities, no mommy responsibilities.  I kicked myself out of the house and spent a day shopping (mostly browsing and trying on things for kicks and giggles) and getting a long-awaited haircut.  All that I knew was that I wanted something different.  Every day seeing the hair graveyard in the shower and then having a pile of it as I combed my wet hair was so hard.  I loved having long hair and it was upsetting to be losing it.  Many others have shared cutting it shorter made coping with that easier.

Boy were they right!  I got this cut a week ago and I feel completely different about my hair now.  I got rid of (donated) 11 inches and now I'm not finding hair everywhere anymore.  It's still coming out, just a let less noticeable to me.

I found the experience therapeutic.  If you've been waiting to do this, I encourage you to wait no longer.  I didn't realize how much I hid behind my hair and used it as a security blanket, and thus how much it was holding me back.

Pics with the longer hair are posted in my profile.  Here's the new 'do!  Sported while wearing a skirt for the FIRST TIME IN LIKE 8-9 YEARS!  Who IS this person?

GORGEOUS Darling! You could be standing in MY kitchen (except it isn't messy from my 14 yro son!) - and there's a peninsula where it looks like you have a table.

I love the outfit - I've been wearing skirts w/tights and boots a lot over the winter becaues it's what I had - and even though shopping is getting to be more fun - spending money on clothes I can't "keep" isn't. I'm still trying to get by on the bare basics.

I'm so excited to see you doing SO well! I think any hair cut would look good on you! Congratulations on treating yourself to a ME-Day. We all need to do that once in awhile!

It will be great to see where we both are in the fall - I'm sure we will be doing some shopping!

Isn't it amazing what make up and a hair dresser can do? LOL We had a family wedding and I couldn't let the fancy hair-do go to waste! (Took me 20 minutes to untie the knots and find all the bobby pins!) The picture is a little distorted - when it uploaded it became a little narrow, I have a cute one of me & Andrew at PF Changs on our birthday I want to put up - I've just got to take the time to get it out of the camera. That was on the cell phone - so I emailed it to the computer (lazy ... )

I went out Saturday and got new hilights, but didn't change the hair cut too much - just about 2 inches off the back. My hair loss stopped right around surgery time - but I was losing a brushfull each shower.

I will say, my hairdresser encouraged me to wash only every OTHER day, and then to only was ONCE, not the lather and REPEAT on the bottle ... - she said its better for our hair and scalps. It was tough at first because I've been washing twice per day, everyday for MANY years! Of course I do the Biotin (1000 mg 3x/day - I take it with my Calcium and Extra Vitamin D - my Vitamin D was low @ 6 months, and it made sense to fit it in there). I feel like I'm popping pills all day long - but I realized I really didn't have an illness worse than a sore throat this whole winter. Could I be - what's the word .... healthy? Well, maybe getting there!

Yes - I will be there next Monday - I have an appointment at CMC at 3:30 - so I will take my work laptop and find someplace to sit and wor****il our group meeting. Send me a PM if you have time to swing by a little early before group!

Diane, I so relate to this comment you made:

"I feel like I'm popping pills all day long - but I realized I really didn't have an illness worse than a sore throat this whole winter. Could I be - what's the word .... healthy?"

I guess we all feel kind of like we're popping pills all day with all the supplements; but like you, I realized recently that I just came through an entire fall and winter season with not one single cold, flu, or other contageous illness??!!!  And frankly, I expected to be more susceptible to them this year because of the level of stress the RNY imposed on my system.  I'm thinkin' every freakin' body should be popping vitamins every day now!

And doesn't it feel oh-so-good to think we're getting - what's the word - healthy!?!?!

Love it, love it, love it!

WOW Michelle.. I love it.. I know it had to be hard to cut off your hair but I think it looks really cute on you.. and will be much easier to care for too.. Kudos for donating the hair..

I love the skirt.. dont it feel good to be able wear things we have not worn in years..

The weight loss is really showing so much now.. and with the new hair cut I think it makes you look even slimmer..
