Hi Everyone

Hi all I am 52 years old a mother of 3 grown kids that are being extremely supportive along with a future son in law who is also being extremely supportive and going in for my gastric by pass surgery (or should I say starting the beginning of my new life) This coming Monday, April 12th and if anyone ever told me I would be thrilled at the prospect of not being able to eat all the crappy food I have grown to love I would have told them they were nuts, but thats exactly how I feel about this. I am extremely excited (nervous yes but more excited).
During this past year, I have been diagnosed with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and Bad Colesterial. Everything a woman really wants to have right? My weight is up to 377 lbs and I have no energy whatsoever. My daughter, who never ever commented on my weight before, asked me if i could lose a little weight for her wedding which is in August of 2011. After that comment, it got me to start seriously thinking, she wants to start a family right away after getting married, and dammit I want to be able to have the energy to play with my grandchildren, as well as be alive to see them. I have been reading the posts on here and I can see this is a wonderful support group. Well I guess thats all I have to say for now, except ty for letting me share and ty for sharing with all of us your feelings and thoughts it helps alot.

Welcome Debbie..

So glad to have you here.. you are right this is a great support forum.. there are a lot of really wonderful people on here.. I am sure you will feel right at home..

I am 51.. my daughter got married two years ago and I had to attend her wedding not being able to hardly walk down the aisle with the escort to my seat.. I was so embarressed to be in front of all the family I had not seen in years and be that big.. My BMi was 63...I felt just like you that I knew grandchildren would be coming and I wanted to be able to play with them and be around for them.  My grandson was born in Febuary 2009,  I was still at a BMi of 63.. My journey of weight loos started then.. I lost 67 lbs from then to the time I had surgery in November.. I have lost another 36 lbs since then.. making it 103lbs so far.. I am able to play with him.. get in the floor with him.. carry him around.. and run after him.. the other day I pushed him on the trike around and around and he just laughed and laughed and I thanked God for the oppotunity to do that.. I know you will be so happy with your choice to have surgery..

It is coming soon...Congratulations.. I am so happy for you... please keep posting and let us know how things go.. I will be praying for an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery so you can get started on your new life....

huggs..
