Hi All  I am having RNY surgery on Tuesday.... I am still a little worried about the surgery and what to expect afterwards....I saw my surgon's pa on Friday.  My work family has been great. They threw a good luck on surgery get together. They had no food and gave me a basket of stuff and lots of encourgement.  They are a great group.  Any thought from my group here what I need to be doing?   I would like to eat this weekend but I am on a liquid diet now,,,,,Thanks for any information you can give.....

Not much longer to go!  Congrats on your date finally getting here :)

What a sweet group of people at work... it'll be so nice to have that kind of support post-op too.

Before I went out for surgery, I cleaned, purchased some things I'd need post up (crystal light, soup, immersion blender to break soup chunks down, yogurt, protein drinks).  They're right when they say don't buy too much cuz your taste buds will change :)  There's stuff I had to give away b/c it just didn't taste good to me.

Best wishes... post and let us know how you're doing after surgery!

In the hospital you can expect some mild discomfort from the surgery and to need to get up and move around sooner than you feel ready. You will also have extremely dry lips so bring some balm. You will need to take very little to the hospital. You won't feel like reading etc......I only wore hospital clothes and slippers, I did take my own pillow and was happy to have it. I had a IV and a catheter following surgery until day 2.
When you come home, you will have NO appetite. You will likely be on a full liquid diet like you are now. Remember to focus on drinking throughout the day. You desperately need the fluid but it is hard to make yourself drink. Your taste buds will change immediately. before surgery I loved a good protein shake with milk and flavorings and cannot stand them now! So I ahve fruit flavored protein drinks adn I am getting by on them.
Good luck!!!!! Keep us posted!

For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.
Psalm 91:11,12  (NLT)

The Lor himself watches over you!  The Lord stands beside you as your protective shield.
The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.
The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. Psalm 121:5,7,8  (NLT)

May the Lord bless you before, during, and after your surgery.

Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? I say, what difference does it make--I paid for a full glass,so either way I am getting jipped!!!
