38D & No more Lane Bryant FOREVER!
So, I got a few moments of "me" time today after my doctor's appointment. (That went well, but he suggested I buy a $800 treadmill.)
I ran away to the mall. I got a hair cut. Then I decided I had had it with the bra I had on and was going to get a bra fitting. I went to the Lane Bryant Cacique store because that's where I went the last time.
After it taking forever to find someone who works there, she did the bra fitting. She says 42C, maybe 42B. She did it over the sweater and while I was wearing the last Cacique bra I bought. I hate this bra because every time I bend over my tatas come splooging out through the front. She pulls out a bra and I go to try it on. It's too big around and just doesn't fit right in the cup. I put my sweater back on and go grab a 42B. I try that on. It looks like I'm wearing one of those coconut shell bras you see in the movie South Pacific. But it is holding me in place. I bend over and nothing floops out. So, I change back into old bra and put my shirt on. Then I go looking for other styles. Seriously, I think they had three 42Bs in the whole store. I grab those and go back to try them on. She says she just needs to check out the one customer at the register and then she'll help me. (I think she can tell I'm starting to get annoyed.)
15 minutes later she's still checking customers out.
I just give up and walk out and over to Dillards (aka the only real local department store). The wonderful woman in the intimates department took me back into the changing room and she did the fitting over my sweater as well. She says 42D or DD. (I wish!) We pick out three in both sizes. I try one of the Ds on. It's way off. I press the little help button and she's there in 25 seconds. She looks at the bra while I'm wearing it, leaves for a minute and comes back with 38D.
First NSV -- the 38 part fit! OMG! I haven't been this little since I was 10 or 11. Second NSV, the D works as well. Although I almost have to roll them up to get them into the bra, they are a D!

One food makes you larger, and one food makes you small...
LOL I have to roll mine up to get them in there too! I am now a 40D down from 48DDD (and those hurt so maybe it was bigger than that!) I'm cracking up about the coconut shell bras, I just threw all of mine away. I happened to get an email from Victoria's Secret saying they fit "all the way up" to a 40DD! So i'm gonna head over there and see what I can find. It would just thrill me to death to be able to purchase something other than lotion body wash and body spray from there!!! Little pink bag here I come!
and today...I'm wearing pink capri's with a matching pink shirt...size 24!!!!!!! woooo hooooo! imagine that...pink pants instead of black! and some pink wedges with pretty flowers painted on the wedge part. Clothing is my new addiction! lol

This is about the fifth time I've sworn off Lane Bryant.
First, I didn't want to pay their exorbitant prices.Yesterday I saw a pair of clearance jeans with three price stickers on them. The one on top said $54.99. If that's the clearance price, I don't want to think about what they cost when they first came into the store. Although I wouldn't put it past them to up the price right before it goes on clearance so you feel like you're saving a bunch when they take the 40% off. I bet the price on the next sticker down is $29.
Another time, it was that the buyer for my local store had this idea that fat women wanted to dress like Britney Spears-- sleeveless shirts that barely go to the top of the low rise jeans they were selling. It's not like I want to show off my bread-dough-like tummy and scary batwings!
Swearing off # 3 was when I gained after my last big weight loss because their sizes only seem to top out at 24 at my local store. (Okay, they have two or three 26-28 and maybe one 30 squirreled away at the back of a rack in the far corner of the store. But there's always something wrong with them.)
#4 was when I needed work clothes and all they had were clothes appropriate for a cruise.
After they opened this Cacique place I wandered in and didn't realize it was Lane Bryant until I got to the back of the store. The first two times I went in, it was all right. Except the time before this the nitwit who helped me suggested a horrible pushup bra (it should be called a pushout bra) and I listened to her.
I can see where the Cacique place would be great for women who are still SMO. They had some big bras in there. I know I saw couple 48Hs hanging on hangars. Which is funny because that same lady wouldn't be able to go into the clothes part of the store and find anything to fit.
Altho the size range didn't go as high, Dillards had similar bras for the same prices or less. (They had some $80 bras too, but that's a bit much.) AND THE SERVICE WAS STELLAR.

One food makes you larger, and one food makes you small...
I am so happy for you to get into a size 38.. .. I am not any where near a 38 yet.. I started at a 48DD and now I am at a 44D.. I do have one 44C but the cups run real big in that style.. I bought a new one at Fashion Bug a few weeks back in a 44D and it was tight.. now that one is getting looser and the cups are starting to get the little folds in them.. so I guess I am getting ready to go down.. I have gotten a sports bra from Walmart and I wear it to exercise in as I seem to slip out the bottom of the cups of others when I move too much.. lol..
STAY AWAY FROM LANE BRYANT...sounds like you should have had enough experience with them at this point to know better than to go back... they have gone down hill so much in the past few years that I refused to go in there at all.. even when I saw cute things in the window I just kept walking..
I too shopped at Dillards.. My mom used to work there and did for many years.. the sales women do not work on commission but they have a pretty good pay scale but they have quotas to meet.. if they meet a good quota and eventually get a raise out of it when the next review comes around they are happy campers but then if the sales slump and the next review comes around they will loose the raise.. so they really try to be helpful and courteous to the customer to make a sale.. and really most of them that have been there for years really gain a bond with their customers and know most by their first names..
I can not afford anything at Dillards at this point only to have it not fit in a few weeks.. but I plan on shopping there when I get to goal.. I never buy full price items.. I always shop the sale racks.. you can get Walmart prices...well maybe a little higher.. but the quality is so so much better and I had Dillard's clothes that I owned so long they were way way out of style.. and still in great shape.. I love the Bechamel clothes and they have plus sizes and fit great.. I don't have any Bechamel left and I am now wearing thrift store clothes.. but when I get to goal I will start again one outfit at a time with Dillards.. But I will miss mom's discount.. lol...
but really I have gotten hooked on Thrift store clothes.. I have found some really nice things that are like new for great prices.. I may just keep at it with them.. and the money goes to a good cause too.. I will have to buy undies and bras from regular stores but I guess unless a special occasion comes along I may stick it out with thrift stores.. I AM HOOKED>>>
Hey you need to not worry about the $800 treadmill.. the weather outside is great now so start walking outside.. it is so much easier on the knees then the treadmill.. I have a used one I bought and I hate it.. it is the most boring form of exercise I know of.. I try to watch tv or a dvd when I walk and or listen to music but it is not the same as waking outside.. I know when HOT weather comes along I may hate exercising outside but for now I am loving it.. after trying most all of the exercise equipment out there if I had to choose one to have at home I think it would be the recumbent bike.. I can stay on it the longest and love to watch the numbers change as I ride.. for some reason it does not seem as boring.. but I CAN NOT afford to buy gym equipment.. mom got me the treadmill for an early Christmas gift .. and it is a used one we found in the paper for $75.. I got a regular old exercise bike and a stair climber at the thrift store for $2 each.. I also have a Tony Little Gazelle I bought used for little to nothing.. For Christmas my dad sent me money and I used it to get a Wii.. I do the Wii fit every day I can.. but without the gift money would have never been able to afford that either.. the doctors that make all that money have no idea how us regular folks live and that we cant just run out and buy exercise equipment.. you can only do what you can do.. I am trying to go to the gym when I can for a change up to my routines.. I asked how much the membership was and about fell over.. Then I found out I can pay $5 and go for the day and use all the equipment and the pool too and attend any classes that day.. so that is how I am doing it. I went yesterday and paid my $5 and worked out on the machines for almost 2 hours and then went to the pool and walked in there and attended a water aerobics class too..
I got my moneys worth and I know I wont get to go every day so this is much better.. If I go once a week to add to my home routine it will only be $20 a month.. that is if I go that much with summer coming.. I can get out and ride a real bike and walk real roads and trails and also mow lawns and garden and weed and go to the lake and swim for free and run around after my grandson and get alot of exercise.. well my point to all that is .. you can make do without the $800 treadmill.. so dont fret it..
Congrat again on the new bra size.. and finding a good buy at Dillards..
Huggs..

Way to go Sis!!!
Lane Bryant
I stopped shopping there about the same time as one of your swear off times. I hated how all the cute shirts had tiny puff sleeves accentuating my ham hock arms and the fact that a 24 at Avenue was more like a 28 at LB and they don't go that big.
I'm so excited for you and your NSV. Keep em comin!!
Love you.
