What do you think about returning to daily exercise threads?
Hiya friends,
I finally kicked my own boo-tay and did a 20 min. elliptical workout. Pre-op? 5 minutes and I felt like dying. I have to admit, getting into the exercise routine post-op has been the most difficult and inconsistent part. I know I'd feel much stronger and healthier, not to mention work my tool more, if I keep the activity going.
Awhile ago there used to be a daily exercise thread. What do you think about treturning to that? Or mimicing the RNY board by having a daily eats thread? Or blending the two?
I need help with accountability with my workouts right now, at least until I get into better habits. I'm wondering if anyone else would be interested in keeping track of exercise goals and/or daily eats?
Thoughts? Bueller?
Sincerely,
Your friendly neighborhood boo-tay kicker

Yeah Michelle I think it is a good idea...
I used to post on the exercise thread on here and yes it kept me accountable.. I for one am all for it.. I also am for the daily eats.. many people get tired of the same old thing and wonder what everyone else is eating.. I am not always on here every day.. some days I have my grandson and can not get online but I am on here most days and I think it might help me to really stay on track to have to post my exercise and eats.
I did a long walk with my hubby today.. we walked 3 miles in little under an hour.. that is the longest I have ever walked. 2 miles was the limit before today.. I was pretty proud when we got home.. and oh yeah pretty sore too.. lol...but now I feel so much better and the Ben Gay is helping that too.. lol. .. I was always afraid to try to go that far and not be able to get back.. It helps when you have a partner too.. now I know I am capable..
If you start the posts every day I will be on there every day I can.. .. I say go for it..
huggs..

Sure. You want me to own up to the fact that I've been overdoing the carbs? I have to be accountable?
Okay. Love you guys. (Seriously, this is a great idea.)
I did 44 minutes of "Moderate Activity" today. I went for a walk with my hubbie (and even though I asked nicely to leave kiddle home with Grandma, he insisted she come ). When I started doing my minute of "running" she freaked out that I was trying to leave her behind. Because we brought the wagon along every part of her body, including her hair, was hurting. She skinned her knee. It's a long saga that I'm trying to block out of my mind. So, not as intense or as long as I would have done by myself.
She's not coming next time, he might not either.
DISCLAIMER: Newbies look away.
My nut doesn't care about carbs or calories. She says protein first. Of course, I haven't seen her since about a year ago (preop) and she ignores my e-mails. I frequently refer to her as a nitwit when it comes to vitamins, so I should probably ignore her advice regarding food, as well.
This is what I've eaten today:
pre-b: protein chai tea
B: 1/2 piece of sausage patty (1 x 1 x 1/2 inch)
1 whole grain blueberry muffin w 1 tsp butter
S: 1 Luna peanut butter bar
L: 1 cheese/chile pupusa
1 prune
S: 1 slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter
D: 1 slice of swiss cheese
3/4 slice of french bread
1/2 cup homemade french onion soup (no alcohol)
2 ham and cheese hor d'ouerves
DESSERT: 1 1/2 tablespoons of regular vanilla ice cream
1 by 1 inch by 1/2 inch of the second nastiest low cal brownie ever created (I'll post about the cookbook after I try making one more recipe)
I've only had 48 oz of water, so I can drink another 16 before I go to bed.
The damage so far: 1500 calories; 172 grams of carbs!; Good: ~80 grams of protein
I had a few too many carb bombs today. Hope y'all did better.

One food makes you larger, and one food makes you small...
I am new here but I think it sounds like a great idea. I just started going back to the gym a few weeks ago and could use the accountability. I used to use Sparkpeople to help keep me accountable but it was a little discouraging being in a group where most of the people were just working out to loose 5 pounds.
I like accountability...lol
Today I went to the Y and did the Jive walking class. 60 minutes of water walking and then 15 minutes of hot tubbing.
B: Protein shake (Isopure zerocarb with decaf coffee/milk)
L: 1/2 cup chili
S: string cheese
D: 2 trader joes turkey meatballs in marinara sauce ate at 4:30
S: string cheese
LS: sugar free pudding
Needed vegis or fruit but wasn't in the mood to go shopping.

Hi Stephanie.. welcome ...
I use Sparkpeople only to check on specific food calories.. like today a Red Lobster Lobster Tail.. hard to find on other calorie sites.. I use "Realize My Success" to log my actual daily calories and exercises.. and my stats of weight and measurements.. I only use this site because it is connected to my surgeons office so they can see what I am doing if I start having issues.. I had a water weight issue and a gain of 5lbs and was stuck and just got back to the original weight of March 1st this past week.. I was able to email my nut and she went on-line to see what I have been eating and my exercise routines and could tell me I was doing nothing wrong.. I really like that.. I have had a RNY and thought the site was only for banders but it isn't.. people of all surgery types use the site.. I never use any of those site for a support group.. as you say there are too many light weights on there.. THIS is my support team.. I love this forum and I am sure you will too..
I am so glad we are going to be accountable to each other for weight and exercise.. I think it will be very helpful.
keep posting..

YAY! I'm so glad you guys are into this. :) Thread is started for today.
Teresa, 3 miles!? Do you realize you just about did a 5k? Wow!
Patti, step away from the carbs! No sudden moves - keep your hands where we can see them! Arrrr! (Yes, I realize being the carb police and being a pirate are two very different things. But lookit that guy - he's just begging for use in a post). Yesterdays over darlin, today will be great! You're gonna get yer WLS boogie down!
Stephanie, nice to meet ya! Stick around, this is a great group of ladies. :)
Joanne, on the exercise!

No Michelle I never knew how far 5K was.. I always hear about these 5K runs and 5K walks but never new how far that was.. thanks for letting me know that .. that is so encouraging to me..to think that a year ago I could not walk from my living room to the kitchen with out hurting so bad I was in tears and out of breath.. I did Ben-gay on legs and knees all night last night.. after moving the mini horse in the afternoon to a greener Pasture and then back to shelter for the evening , walking out to the goat field and feeding them and then walking the fence to find where the electric was grounding out and then helping hubby get mowers ready for cutting.. (yes grass is growing and needs cutting already) I also did laundry and dishes and made dinner.. I have never been so sore in my life.. lol.. but this morning all is well and I am moving again..
