Does the whole seating thing ever begin to feel normal?

Everywhere and every time I sit I'm astounded by how I fit!  Movies, conference room chairs, my desk chair, couches, kitchen chairs, my car, you name it!  It always surprises me.  For those that are further out, do you still have this reaction or does your smaller body eventually become the new norm???  I love it and it keeps me constantly aware that hard work is paying off and just how much better life is when you "fit"!

I'm totally with you on this one, Michelle!  It is amazing.  Many times it was a toss between standing on my sore feet or squeezing my a$$ into a chair that was painful on my upper legs and hips!  Neither choice was ever fun.

I go into offices and conferences all the time now and am just thrilled to be able to sit just about anywhere.  Another thing:  My steering wheel on the car doesn't hit my belly!!

I LOVE This post!!! I hope the feeling never goes away for you (or me one day) - - - - I so look forward to the day when I won't have to "scope out" the joint everytime I go somewhere.

It hasn't gotten old for me yet!!!! I guess I have so much time to make up for that it may never go away. What I like the best now is that when we go into a restaurant they automatically sit us at a booth when they have them. So to me that is like wowwwww! They are looking at me like i'm a normal person and don't have to ask if i would like a table instead of a booth!!!! Anytime there is a booth, i'm in it! LOL They are so comfortable with their cushy seats and since I have lost some cushion in my rear (lol) we make a great pair LOL

I also notice walking past people in the hallway they don't move to the side...they just keep walking because there is enough room for both of us. I had to move my car seat up the other day because although i have the back of the seat sitting straight up finally, i still had it pushed all the way back and my toes could not feel the pedals..i'm like wait...i can move forward now, and i still have sooo much room between myself and the steering wheel. I no longer have part of my hips and butt sitting on the organizer in the middle of the two front seats, i just fit in my own seat and with the arm rest down! I used to need all the room of my seat plus the middle and would be right next to the arm rest of the passenger seat. it is sooo amazing!!!!

it hasn't gone away yet for me. i'm still amazed by the space in chairs. i have this wooden chair on my deck that my father built for me -- making it extra strong and wide to accomodate me. now i sit in it, and i am a bit wider than half the width of the chair. i'm 5 years out, and that still thrills me!

I completely agree everything is so different.  I love the booth and don't feel as nervous going places since I figure I will probably make it into a chair now.  But I have to admit it certainly does not feel normal.  I'm suprised when my body doesn't run into something or when I don't have to walk around a special way to get through.

Yesterday, I sat comfortably in a cafe booth that had been too small for me.  Of course, I could only eat a few bites of my meal but it's a great trade off!

I'm so loving these stories!  It's like the universal "wow!" that we all have.

My brain is struggling to understand space these days.  I went to Red Lobster with a friend last weekend and when they showed us to the booth, I thought, "I've lost a lot of weight, but I haven't lost THAT much.  Man, it's going to be tight."  I sit down and guess what?  4 INCHES OF SPACE.  What the heck!?  It's so weird!

We're going to Disney World next month...I have never been and I'm very excited! I cannot wait to get on the plane. Now normally I would be stressing about getting on the plane but since i can now fit in movie seats(with arm rests down) and regular seats at the theatre I'm wondering if I will fit in the plane seat...I think i just might! If I do it will be the highlight of the vacation LOL I just can't believe this is my life! I will be able to run all over without swollen feet and ankles or a hurting back. I'm going to see the mouse!!!!!! wooo hoooo!

Wow! thanks so much for mentioning swollen feet, ha ha! I just realized that I haven't had swelling since my surgery when the doc took me off my lasix! Woo Hoo! Shoes fit better, whole nine yards.

Thanks Michelle for starting this thread, it really is exciting!
